Located in Vitebsk, a 13-minute walk from Summer Amphitheater, Vitebsk Hotel features views of the city. Hotel was clean, comfortable and refurbished - with a slight retro-Soviet look to it still. Centrally-located and close to all the tourist spots as well as a good 10-15 minute walk to the train station. A large supermarket is located in the next building. Staff at reception were a little cool, but check-in and check-out were simple and quick. Make sure sure to spend a full day or two in Vitebsk!

charming small city, where Chagall was born; visiting the house where he lived is emotional; the neighborhood is charming and walking on the hills of the city is nice, with nice churches and restaurants; everything in the city center is at walking distance and you can easily reach the city center by taxy or also by several public buses or filobus extremely cheap
Vitebsk is a unique place with long reach history and very advanced art life. There are several modern art spaces and Marc Shagal's family house. Obligatory ask for guide! Local people are friendly and intelligent. Also nice place for some shopping activities.
Nice and friendly city, there are many interesting places to visit, including modern architecture, religious (orthodox, catholic churches or synagogues) and art (Chagall Museum and Art Center). The Daugava river is beautiful, coasts are grant-maintained and suitable for a long walks and boating.
Viciebsk (Vitebsk or Witebsk) a good belarusian town with great history! Mix of cultures. Beautiful architecture. A lot of good museums. Some of polish and jewish heritage except belarusian. Nice river- Daugava (or Dzwina).
Post Soviet space experience with luxury accommodation was a real treat. Wonderful food choices, outstanding hospitality and warm welcome. Clean and spacious city, lots of history and culture to absorb. Great public transport. Affordable taxi service. Contrast of public funding made us learn and appreciate simple values in life, that's for sure. Postcode lottery was obvious but Belarusian People were wonderful! Clubs, shops and restaurants for any age and any interest. Affordable prices. Lots of local art and craft, fantastic local beer.
The Chagall house was nothing special but there is a lot more to Vitebsk. We encountered a popup art exhibition, which was very interesting. If one wants to see what the Soviet Union looked like, one gets a good impression here (still lots of Ladas around). I hope I'm not being unkind but it is an experience.
The room (apparently recently renovated) was clean, very spacious and comfortable. I slept very well despite having windows open due to the heat. The little balcony was also great. The hotel staff is very kind and helpful, and we especially appreciated the excellent advice we got at our arrival about good restaurants nearby. The hotel has an excellent location, within walking distance from both the railway station and the old town district, and also very close to the bars along the river.
