Location was great. Rail close to explore the city and also a few bistros around the corner. Outstanding views from our room of the river and park. Missed breakfast early flight.

The lobby area is a fantastic place to hang out and meet with a friend. The Charcut restaurant off the lobby is also fantastic. They have great pizza, pasta and meat (they are butchers) and can make anything gluten free. I LOVED the room. this is the second time I have stayed here and would live here if I could. The ceilings are high, the decor is fabulous, they have blackout blinds, the bathtub is big and deep, the bathroom is huge, the bed is really comfortable, the desk chair is adjustable in height, there is a Nespresso machine and so on... Location is excellent. Lots of restaurants nearby and a grocery store across the street. Also, a section of the main floor has an area you can eat your takeout if you prefer that to eating in your room.

FAQs about hotels in Calgary

Western Culture East of the Rockies

Set on plains dominated by the Rockies, Calgary shot to international fame as first Canadian host of the Winter Olympics. The Olympic Park is still used for skiing and summer events, and also houses Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame.

Speed skating and ice hockey matches thrill crowds in the Olympic Oval, whereas NHL games kick off at the Saddledome, an arena on the Calgary Stampede grounds, site of a huge 10-day rodeo and Western festival. The neighbouring river meets the Bow River by Fort Calgary, a former Mountie outpost. The zoo is on one of the river’s islands, while Prince’s Island Park overlooks the downtown skyscrapers.

Calgary Tower offers far-reaching views, and Stephen Avenue at its feet is lined with restaurants and bars. 17 Avenue also offers good nightlife, while the Chinook Centre and Barclay Parade have a host of stores. The Core shopping centre includes Devonian Gardens, reportedly the world’s largest indoor gardens.

Other attractions include Telus Spark science centre, the eclectic Glenbow Museum and Heritage Park, where a paddle steamer and steam train transport you to Calgary of yesteryear.

Calgary Airport is near the city centre, and Booking.com offers luxury hotels with airport shuttles, cheap motels, and B&Bs with parking. If you’re lucky, you might even see the Northern Lights from your accommodation.

Calgary had everything I needed and nearly everything I wanted. The city has all the services and products a person could want. Costco, Canadian Tire, Honda, Toyota, Ford, Chevy and the dealer I needed, Mazda. I don't really understand flashing green left turn signals, but got through them ok. Fuel was reasonably priced. Having been in remote parts of Alaska and the Yukon for a few months, I wasn't used to the "big city " experience. The city isn't that big, however it does behave like one, in that the speed of life is quicker than I was used to seeing. There is quite a bit of entertainment, movies and theater/theatre; I didn't have time to attend any of these events. Next Trip.

Did not spend much time in Calgary

Did not spend much time in Calgary It is a nice city, from some reviews crime is on the rise Airport was very good Traveled to Canmore area and Edmonton Highways and roadways were crowded and lots of bad drivers- cut in to your lane no wearing, speeding and cutting and switching lanes, motorcycles ripping at high speeds and weaving in and out of lanes - not safe for all

Reflections on My Calgary Experience – Rotary Convention &...

Reflections on My Calgary Experience – Rotary Convention & More I recently had the privilege of attending the Rotary International Convention in Calgary—and what an incredible experience it was! The atmosphere was electric, filled with inspiring sessions, global fellowship, and the true spirit of Rotary service. Beyond the convention, I managed to squeeze in a few local adventures despite my tight schedule. I tried my hand at golfing in Calgary for the first time—a refreshing and memorable experience! Though I didn’t get the chance to visit Banff or other scenic sites, I still enjoyed some leisure time shopping, tasting local wines and craft brews, and witnessing the early preparations for the famous Calgary Stampede. It was exciting to see the city buzzing with energy and anticipation. I met new people, saw new faces, and soaked in the warmth and hospitality of Calgary. Looking back, I truly wish I had planned to stay longer—just enough to enjoy the full Calgary Stampede experience! Calgary was unforgettable, and I carry back not just memories, but a deeper appreciation of Rotary’s global reach and the joy of cultural exploration!

The only hotel in Canada that has delivered an actual disabled shower room. Thank you. Staff were very helpful and thank you Rose in the dining room. Good breakfast and thanks to reception staff for advising me to buy the breakfast ticket on check in. The appetiser I had (Nachos) was enough for 3 people and I couldn't finish it ! The pool area looked lovely. A pity I didn't get chance to try it out. Very easy to drive to the airport after my stay and drop off the rental car.
