Nestled in the town of Gaultois in the fjord lands of Long Island, Newfoundland, this inn features an on-site restaurant. All rooms offer a private bathroom. Everything was amazing. The service, the meals, the view, the peacefulness. Amazing quiet community with awesome people. Thank you for the wonderful experience 😊
Cute little village reachable only by passenger-only ferry (20 minute ride and about $1.50 per person) so unique experience. We did a great hike to Piccare. Friendly people. There aren't any stores so it's really about getting away to a relaxing place with so much beauty. The Gaultois Inn was very comfortable, with very good meals-very accommodating and aimed to please. ATV picks you up at the dock to take you the short distance to the Inn or you can walk on the boardwalk. Bring a good book and good hiking boots and adjust to a different pace of life.
The staff was awesome - friendly, hospitable and so welcoming. The food was excellent, and the room was comfortable and roomy, with a great view of the harbour. The scenery is beautiful, but the roads are very hilly making it difficult to get around if you have mobility issues or are older. There are no vehicles in town, and the residents use atv's to get around. It would be nice to have the use of a quad during your stay. As there is no internet access, it would be nice to have a selection of movies or better selection of tv channels. Otherwise, it's nice to disconnect for a few days.
We didn't go there it should NOT have been mixed in with the places to stay "near Fortune", it's nowhere near there as in accommodations while going to Fortune or St. Pierre. We booked NOT knowing this and when we got there we had no place to stay. We were far from home and needed a place to sleep for 2 nights. My advise is unless you are planning a trip to Gaultios itself DO NOT book their hotel, it shows up online with all the hotels in the vacantly of Fortune, Grand Bank, Mary's Town etc but should be removed. All I can say is Thank God for a good Samaratian.
This would be a place for more adventurous people who don't rely on everything at hand. Gaultoise (pronounced "Galt us") is a quiet fishing village where many young people have left. It is accessible by ferry only and no vehicles are allowed. It is easily gotten around by foot. There is no night-life to speak of but the Gaultoise Inn has a restaurant and pub for guests. One must be prepared to bring along their own lunch and snack items. Other than for walking about the village, a mature couple would likely enjoy just sitting and watching the locals go about their business.
