It was mid October so I didn't swim but the dog did and loved it. Beautiful sand beach, we walked it, great view. Loved the sound of the surf from our accommodation as well as watching on the one stormy day we had there.
Aside from the beach being so beautiful, it is great for a family with kids! There is a canteen to order food and cold drinks from right by the beach. and there are bathrooms and change rooms which are perfect when you plan on spending an entire afternoon there. You can also shower outside to get all the sand off before going back in your car. This is key when you have kids and do not want a pile of sand taken home with you :) Also the beach is long, so you do not have to be super close to people if you want space, and there is a lot of sand for kids to play in.
Beautiful beaches with clearly marked signage and nice facilities. Various artisans are located along the trail so experiencing local flair is easily accessible. The restaurants all have great food items and there is something for everyone. There are some key businesses in the area so obtaining supplies you may need is easy.
A good place to stay overnight if you want to visit the National Park. May hiking paths close by ,nice scenery and waterfalls etc. Only minutes to hiking areas. Best in the summer. I was there in the autumn and the colours were very nice. There is only one good restaurant there, the Keltic Inn.In the summer many nicknack places and the campgrounds , of course.
The beach was beautiful. We took the walk near the lake and I noticed how much was offered to children with the playground, the beach near the lake, and Ingonish beach! Fantastic for a family. We enjoyed the walk and the scenery. It’s interesting to see the lake, the ocean, and their beaches.
There was a buluga whale at the beach the day I was there.I think a rare occurance..It was about an hour drive for the boat trip to the BIRD ISLANDS from Bras’Dor..Best thing of my entire holiday..PUFFINS, 12 or more BALD EAGLES roosting together,RAZORBILLS, Eider Ducks, 2 kinds of cormorants, Gulls nesting on an entire steep wall, and many more different kinds of birds. Hundreds of seals.....lAlso Ingonish beach was close to St.Anne and the Gaelic center .It was so interesting...I would like to stay there longer...

The view was great. It was so peaceful and quiet. Could hear the waves crashing on Ingonish beach while having my morning coffee on the deck.
