We had a comfortable and restful stay at Hillcrest Hall. Comfortable beds, access to fans/AC to cool the rooms down. Reliable wifi (at least for mobile browsing) and a great breakfast each morning. Walkable to local beaches & a lovely lawn to chill on at the start/end of the day. Shout to Wendy - thank you for sharing the recommendations for live music, we would have missed out without your help!

Charming, clean, quiet. The owners are so hospitable. We even had a fiddle serenade at breakfast. The food was scrumptious!! Could not have been better. Also had a beautiful ocean view!

Location was perfect for exploring the area. Very peaceful and quite location, and the private beach access was amazing. The house itself was very comfortable, with everything needed for a great stay. Michael, our host, was very accommodating and made every effort to make sure we were taken care of.

Everything. This place was above and beyond what we expected. Great view of the bay and beach right across the road from us. Hosts couldn't have done anymore for us, they were friendly and most helpful.

What Guests Said About Port Hood:

Port Hood is a charming town with amazing views of the bay.

Port Hood is a charming town with amazing views of the bay. The nearby Clove Hitch Bar & Bistro had a delicious dinner selection. The towns of Mabou and Inverness have many restaurants and small shops to visit and both have lovely beaches. Inverness Beach was highly recommended for its spectacular sunsets and the sunset was breathtaking. We liked The Corner Store by miss brenna in Inverness, which had a nice variety of snacks, baked goods and even lemonade from France! We enjoyed our dinner at The Red Shoe in Mabou. The lookout points along the Cabot Trail to Cape Breton Highlands National Park provide breathtaking views. The Park itself is worth visiting for hikes, especially the Skyline Trail, which we did not complete as it was quite hot that day.

Port Hood is a pretty little place.

Port Hood is a pretty little place. If you like the ocean then this is the place for you. The beaches are so close and beautiful. This is why we went there and didn't have a clue that most of the beaches are right there. Not much in the why of restaurants thou but you'll find something to eat.

Nice quiet town in amazing location, beaches, coastal bike trail on railbed nearby. Short drive to excellent hiking trails, local music at pubs and neighbouring community halls. Great to visit in summer or fall.

This is a lovely place to stay!

This is a lovely place to stay! I have stayed there on two different occasions and had a wonderful experience both times. I stayed in one of the suites, which was well equipped. Having a full fridge, stove top, oven and microwave were great to have! Internet was not great, but that's the norm for that whole area, so not specific to the Hebridean Motel. The place was super clean and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. The beds were comfy, and the AC was much appreciated with the hot weather. Can't wait to return!

    Beaches, sunsets, friendly folk!!

Beaches, sunsets, friendly folk!! Near Mabou and the Red Shoe for music and dinners. As well as being on the Ceilidgh trail. A great, quiet spot. Also went on a kayak trip with Alex MacKinnon which I highly recommend. Walked the boardwalk and the beach. It was beautiful and peaceful but lots to do!!

Located at the edge of the attractive Port Hood beaches, the Hebridean Motel is nicely situated to enjoy the sights and sounds of Cape Breton Island. Just a few kilometers away at Mabou is the Red Shoe Pub, owned by the famous Rankin Sisters, featuring good food and lively Cape Breton-style entertainment.

Good location with nice views. Close to the excellent bistro and walkable into main Port Hood or the beach. Excellent cooked breakfast. We liked how they had renovated a traditional building.
