Ucluelet is a beautiful town on the Pacific Ocean on Vancouver Island. There are beaches close by (the water is pretty cold, though) and many places to hike. We found that Ucluelet is much less touristy than Tofino. So if you like the touristy stuff, Tofino may be a better place for you. Our hotel was within walking distance of the town centre.
Our hotel was within walking distance of the town centre. We ate at the hotel and the hotel pub and at an excellent local restaurant called Frankie's. It is easy to walk and drive around the village. Activities include touring of Pacific Rim National Park, hiking, surfing, and many other activities. We only stayed one night but made the most of it by seeing the town, checking out the Foggy Bean for great coffee and doing some big beach hikes around the Lighthouse. I had been many years since I had last been in Ucluelet.
I had been many years since I had last been in Ucluelet. The town is still charming as ever. They have improved the roads and walkways. Lots of dining options. Lots of accommodations to choose from if you book in advance. Beautiful setting with a calm, sheltered harbour on one side, and a wild temperate rainforest/craggy shoreline and surf on the other.
