The hotel looks great, and fancy. The staff are extremely helpful and kind. Always ready to lend a hand, and even actively checked up on us since we were feeling a bit sick. Truly exceptional service. Beyond, the price is great for a very modern and large room. Didn’t have time to check services like the pool and spa, but I am sure they are top notch. Want to give a quick shout out to the hotel restaurant staff as well. We didn’t eat there, but made a few orders for our room and the staff there as well was exceptionally kind and gave great service. I also want to give a quick shoutout to the location. Very central, Starbucks 1 minute walk from the lobby, Robson street is about 3 minutes away, but also not too far from Northern Downtown Vancouver, so a very nice stroll will lead you to Stanley Park and some nature.

FAQs about hotels in Vancouver

Outstanding Capital of the Outdoors

Vancouver is an outdoorsy city ranking among the world’s most livable, sheltered by Vancouver Island and the Pacific Range mountains. The most famous peak, Grouse Mountain, is a favorite spot for hiking and skiing. Take the cable car up for magnificent views of the city's skyscrapers and huge Stanley Park.

Skirting this park is the Seawall, a popular biking trail with paths passing the Vancouver Aquarium, picnic spots and a pitch and putt course. There are also a couple of beaches, but the best ones are along English Bay in Kitsilano.

Granville Island is just across False Creek from Yaletown and houses some quirky shops and markets. Ferries depart from here to near BC Place Stadium and home field of the city’s football and soccer teams. The legendary Vancouver Canucks ice hockey team play next door at Rogers Arena.

With the largest Chinatown in North America, Gastown is the oldest part of Vancouver and is near the Canada Place cruise ship terminal.

We could go on and on about British Columbia's biggest city, but we could never do it justice, so why not try it for yourself? Booking.com has a fabulous range of accommodations, from hotels near Vancouver Airport in Richmond to downtown B&Bs and motels near all of its ferry ports.

Great city with natural beauty and amazing nearby tourist attractions. Stanley Park, Grouse Mountain, Capilano Park Bridge, Sea to Sky Gondola Whistler and Butchart Gardens/Victoria and quaint steam clock in Gas Town marking the hour with a tune and each quarter hour. Clean, felt safe even at night. Weather very kind to us. Was prepared for much cooler wet conditions but blue skies and comfortable temperatures perfect for being out and about (second week of September).

    Convenience of location to everything.

Convenience of location to everything. Easy to walk around in but could be a challenge for less mobile people as it is somewhat hilly.there are some free shuttles that go to major attractions that are outside of the city.

I have been to Vancouver twice now and was very impressed with the scenic views, Butchart Gardens and the Capilano Suspension Bridge. The steam clock is unique and worth a visit to hear in chime. We also stayed in Victoria and were impressed with the water taxis.

Put on your best walking shoes as you can walk most places...

Put on your best walking shoes as you can walk most places you want to see, including parts of Stanley Park. Carderos is very close by - reservations are recommended and the food is fabulous; good GF options. We ate at the Lift Bar and Grill - limited GF options as a multi-use fryer. Joe Fortes for a more upscale meal out (another great meal), although dress code - anything pretty much goes. The area is very busy when the cruise ships are in. If you are celiac do your homework for restaurants and who offers what and whether they have a dedicated fryer.

3rd time to Vancouver and I love it there.

3rd time to Vancouver and I love it there. It has everything plus wonderful people and out of this world scenery. Granville Island is amazing and you must get out on a boat trip, either whale watching or brave the water and swim with the seals. The tour operators are very respectful of their wildlife and surroundings, so you feel that you are contributing, not taking away.

This is our third stay at the Sylvia and ,as always , it was excellent . Staff was wonderful, very helpful and attentive, the room was clean and spacious , bed was very comfortable . This hotel has possibly one the best locations in the city in English Bay and is within a very short walking distance from shopping , the Sea Wall and taxi-boat transfer to Granville Island. The restaurant has great food and the view is lovely. We hope to be back in Vancouver soon and Sylvia remains our go to hotel.

The location is in perfect proximity to everything. The actual amenities and hotel were much better seen in person than in the pictures, and that is rare. Also the staff were all exceptionally friendly. Absolutely the best place I have stayed in Vancouver downtown, and I have been there each month for the past year.
