Champex, also called "Canada of Switzerland" is very nicely...
Champex, also called "Canada of Switzerland" is very nicely located at a small lake surrounded by greens and high mountains. There are a few hotels and restaurants. It offers a few opportunities for hiking, cycling, skiing etc. but cannot be compared to nearby Verbier or other famous alpine resorts. This has the benefit of quietness and closeness to nature but for adventourous people it may become boring after a few days. Former hotels have been converted into holiday residences, which suggests that Champex used to be a bit more vibrant formerly. It should have great opportunities to devlop into a center of soft-tourism if some investment in infrastructure and amenities was done.

We knew the place and various activities are offered: biking...
We knew the place and various activities are offered: biking, walking, fishing, paddling, swimming, ... . There is a lovely alpine garden and we can visit an underground military fortification. Hiking to well-know refuges is possible (Orny, Trient). Don't miss Zaric's sculpture. There is a small one in the alpine garden. Panorama from Belvedere (easy walk) or Splendid hotel is beautiful. Apparently, there is a SPA in the new trendy / design hotel next to the lake. I believe non-resident can hire by hour (to be checked). Champex is not far to Gorges Durnand.

Champex Lac is a charming village that offers a wide range of outdoor activities, like skiing, hiking, kayaking on the lake, swimming, tennis. It is very suitable for family holidays in winter and summer. The environment is very beautiful. Impressives mountains, woods and small villages. Champex is not far from France and Italy, so day-trips to the French Alps and Aosta in Italy are a possible.

The apartment in the hotel was a little on the small size, so seemed expensive. But it is in a stunning position close to the lake, with wonderful walks nearby. The host was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. And it is dog friendly.

Incredible location in Champex-Lac - central but peaceful. Perfect for walks, swimming and restaurants.
Very comfortable apartment and thoughtful touches. Couches and bed perfect for relaxing on a rest day on the TMB. Hosts were easy to contact. Best value compared to what else was on offer.

Very nice apartment right in front of the lake, close to supermarket stores and restaurants, nice Bar at the place, very attentive staff, perfect place to stay during hiking the TMB- we’ve stayed for 2 nights and was wonderful 🙏

The hotel has immense charm from its period design and decor. We loved it. It has a spectacular location on top of a cliff. The staff were friendly and accommodating.
