Spiez is a beautiful town and nicely situated on Lake Thun. It is less commercialized than Interlaken (which we liked) but is centrally located to take day trips to other locations. Spiez is very accessible by train - it is beautifully set on a bay on Lake Thun, with a good castle as a bonus feature. There are many local excursions and excellent walks available, including lake trips. Water sports and lake bathing are popular. Longer rail trips are possible to a number of destinations - Zermatt, Gstaad, Interlaken and Montreux. As small town, not too many shops or services, but probably enough to meet most needs. Similarly night life and bars mean a trip to nearby Interlaken - but good late train services make this possible.Guest review byAlanUnited Kingdom

Staff were attentive, despite the restaurant being close to full! Jovial relaxed atmosphere throughout the hotel & restaurant! Our 2 bed apt had 2 balconies, one which allowed us to see sunrise over the mountains from our beds. Lovely to sit out on the balcony & watch the sunset.... castle & church light up by night was also nice. Apt cleaned daily, which surprised me.. Great value for money!
