Visiting Santis was the best part of visiting Urnäsch.
Visiting Santis was the best part of visiting Urnäsch. It is a must see. Have awesome views from the summit and also learnt quite a lot about weather and weather measurement.
I really enjoyed traditional swiss dishes for my lunch at Santis Terrace Hotel and dinner at Restaurant Lowen in Urnäsch.
Urnäsch can be comfortably reached by train from Zurich. There is public transport bus 791 from Urnäsch Bahnhof to Santis Cable Car Station.
There are lots of hiking trails in the region. I recommend you to go on the Rondom Appenzoll hike. It is a short easy round trip hike around Appenzell which can be done in around 2.5 hours. In spring there are flowers everywhere and every part of the hike looks like a post card.
