Meals there were delicious. Use of kayaks to explore the lagoon. Bus stop near the hotel for transport around the island. Best part was the staff. So friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome.

Friendliness of the people of Rarotonga certainly made our stay even better. We ventured down to the local RSA and were warmly welcomed. The markets are everything you hear about -totally worthy of at least two trips
We found the dogs pretty friendly but best to avoid going up backroads where they are quite possessive of their properties (fair enough) The roosters of course come with the island and so be prepared for early morning wake-ups!! The amount of terrific food joints is like HEAVEN! There is a wide variety along the roadsides and in town. The beaches are great and safe in the lagoon. Excellent day trips on Koka Lagoon tours (highly recommended) and terrific Cultural night at Te Vara Nui Village. We were there for Vaka Eiva race event where my son was paddling; this was absolutely a place to be - down at Trader Jacks when crew would start & finish their races! Another note -PLEASE be kind to the dogs - Rarotonga people care for them very much

We love to swim and snorkel at Rarotonga.
We love to swim and snorkel at Rarotonga. Muri beach and around Black Rock was the best snorkelling areas.
We love the culture evening and bbq buffet at On The Beach Restaurant as well as a romantic dinner at Little Polynesian Restaurant. Muri night market was also a highlight to buy special dishes from 5 - 8 pm.
We were very happy renting a car from Raro Cars for our 5 days stay.
It is easy to get around Rarotonga as it is only 32 km.

We are revisiting Rarotonga after 20 years .. a lot the same .. a lot has changed ! Just four days on Rarotonga itself .. and now In Aitutaki .. more on that anon ! SO relaxing .. kick down a few gears .. and just enjoy .. the island culture .. the white sands, blue sea .. awesome temperatures ... Weather - mostly ok .. Nov, not so much .. but still managed a tan !
Highly recommended for a place to come, read a book, do whatever rocks your boat .. great food .. and absolutely lovely people !!

Best tip I can give you, carry cash, get a local sim (preferably be off the grid but handy for banking transfers) I didn’t carry enough cash so will be mindful next time. Some places the eftpos didn’t accept my card. Pre book your car hire or be game and get a scooter but you will need to get your Cook Islands license and sit a test if you decide to get a scooter - research which places have island night so u can experience the buffet and show best one in Raro I saw was the islander followed by OTB

The Cook Island people are so awesome.
The Cook Island people are so awesome. Everyone was friendly and kind, never dismissive or impolite. We loved the dogs. The market was so much fun, great music and genuine Cook Island product stalls. Except for our resort we couldn't fault the island at all.

We loved our stay at Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel. Located South of the island on Titikaveka, it was right on what we thought was one of the prettiest beaches on the island with some of the best snorkeling we got on our trip (including the day tours we did on Muri and Aitutaki!). All the staff were attentive, very friendly, and had a sense of love for the place. Our room was clean and well-equipped, it was so lovely waking up to the view of the lagoon everyday. Bed was very comfortable and continental breakfast was nice.

Fabulous location, close to best snorkeling, and only a few minutes to Charlie’s, Muri or The Rarotongan for dining or drinkies.
Loved the beautiful garden and outdoor sheltered area. Wonderful place to relax on the outdoor lounge suite under cover with a view of the pool - even if it’s raining or windy - it’s a calm oasis there.
Anna and Rob were exceptional hosts, friendly, helpful and so welcoming. So thrilled we stayed there and would definitely book there again.

We loved how lively Club Raro was from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. It is a cheaper Adults only resort a little bit tired but if you are after a place for fun etc this is it. The beach isn’t the best for swimming but that didn’t bother us as we jumped on our scooters and went near the Rarotongan Resort. Nice and close to town.

Easy checkin, checkout process.
Great location to be based on the island.

Overall, great accommodation.
