I went to attend to specific business, so it was a fine short stay. In terms of tourism, the city has to offer some shopping/entertainment and good prices. I did not try the beaches, but they look fine. The Baquedano street is charming. I would not recommend too long of a stay though, as there is not so much to do in the city itself, unless you use it as a base to try nearby interests, which I know exist, but I did not have the time to explore myself this time. The weather in winter in very fine: short sleeves during the day and a light hoodie at night will do it.

Restaurants in general are too expensive for what they offer. For example, a fried conger eel (tiny portion) with rice costs eighteen thousand pesos, a bottle of Casillero del Diablo Reserva twenty-nine thousand pesos, while in the supermarket it costs eight thousand pesos.

If you want to enjoy a beautiful beach with fine sand and a spectacular waterfront, Cavancha is the ideal place. The best thing about Iquique is its waterfront. Beautiful beach, outdoor sports, and top-notch restaurants. I would return to Iquique in a heartbeat.

Beautiful city, friendly people, everything relatively close. Many restaurants, all kinds of food at good prices. Clean city. Unfortunately, a strong smell of urine, from tourist areas, outside shops, and the bus terminal. Also, many homeless people.

The room with bathroom was really great, very clean, spacious, comfortable bed. The hotel is located in less touristic part, but for my activities the location was perfect because I was close to everything I needed. Plus there is a market with very cheap food open everyday from morning. Staff was nice. If you want to be close beaches, then this is not the right place.
