I love how close the place is to nature, beach is amazing , the rustic cabanas are beautiful .The only thing I didn’t like it were the locals trying to sell their products in a way that can be annoying.

The only way to get from the arrival area to your hotel is to walk along the beach with your luggage or by boat. When the seas are ruff and there are no boats you must carry your luggage through the sand and water. Depending where your hotel is, that could be a mile. There is one tiny bodega on the beach to buy soda and beer and not much else. It’s best for a short stay.

Horrible place, instead of the sea breeze you'll enjoy exhaust from the dozens of motorboats and scooters cruising everywhere without any rules. They make a horrible noise all over the day, combined with loud music from each bar it caused a headache. Food and drinks are extremely expensive, we got poisoned by some food there being sick for 3 days.
Trash is everywhere behind the beach line.

Before 11 am and after 5 pm, it is beautiful.
Before 11 am and after 5 pm, it is beautiful. Between those hours, however, there are an overwhelming number of visitors and vendors. The water is full of so many people offering rides on jetskis, banana boats, tour boats, etc, that rather than smell the ocean air you smell gas. If you want peace and quiet you need to trek about 2 kms to the peaceful section of Playa Blanca.

Baru was a big surprise for us in all the right ways.
Baru was a big surprise for us in all the right ways.
Family of 3 with a 10 year old, stayed 6 days, 2 different hotels.
Beautiful white sandy beaches, turquoise colored waters and fresh sea food ( learn your prices and always check before accepting anything).
The family time spent there is unforgettable. The people are kind and respectful. The island is safe and after 4pm starts to calm down and at 7-8 pm it's quiet and peaceful.
Most people spent a day and leave, but i recommend you stay and do the activities. We did snorkeling and raccon as well as the Plancton (DO NOT MISS IT! ).

Baru is not yet ready for international travelers.
Baru is not yet ready for international travelers. The harassment from the local vendors borders on scary (from the parking lot attendants to the beach vendors). The beach is not clean to the standards of other Caribbean beaches (bottle caps, dead fish etc.)
Boat and jetski traffic are not controlled, and drive too close to the shore, so the smell of fuel is constantly in the air.
If you have been to a top-quality beach anywhere in the world, you will be disappointed by Baru. I hope they make improvements in the coming years.
Jean Carlos, the hotel administrator, was extremely attentive to our needs. He made the trip very enjoyable! This is a unique spot where you are LITERALLY steps from the sand/ocean. It's very relaxing hearing the waves and popping in for a swim whenever the mood hits you! I've been to 6 continents and by far the most novel experience I've had. My teens enjoyed the eclectic experience as well!! If you have a sense of adventure-this is for you!
This is one of the best properties on the island, because you're literally a step away from the water. The waters are crystal blue, and the views a once in a lifetime experience. You also get to know the other guests in the house because everyone is sharing the same common space.
Keep in mind every property on the island is very rustic, and you probably won't have much internet access - but this was a welcome break for me.
The staff attention, they were always concerned about our comfort, whether if we wanted something to eat or how was our meals, they even took the food to your room. They served our breakfast the last day before the average breakfast time because our flight left very early. Also, they were very helpful contacting us with someone from the hotel for transportation to the airport for a fair price.
We booked this place the day of-it was hard to find a good deal, and this seemed like it would be good for the price. The best thing about the place were the staff-they were kind and attentive. Also, purchasing the inclusive meals was a good deal, since food in the area can be upcharged. The staff also gave us the hook-up to some local private island viewings that were a good deal.
This place has amazing rooms, they are well decorated and feels fresh and modern. Views are really wonderful and they offer a good range of nice cocktails you can drink while you are enjoying in the swimming pool or beach. Beach is not too big but big enough for the size of the hotel. Day travellers also come during the day and spend time there too.
Well situated in a quiet area of Baru. The staff is professional and the food was very good. Olga was always quick to answer any questions I had before coming and arranging our transports. We had a wonderful few days of relaxation at Playa Manglares and totally recommend staying here if you are planning in visiting Isla Baru.
The hotel is right on the beach, so the views are beautiful. The water is blue turquoise. The staff is cleaning the sand all the time. The food and fruit juices are very good. But the best was the staff (Freddy, Ronaldo, Agustin…) as they go out of their way to serve and please you.
The location is beautiful. The hotel Park with all the wild animals is lovely. The huts are nice and you have privacy. The food and the service in the Restaurant in the evening was great. Also the Telescope to watch planets and stars in the evening was one of our highlights.
The level of service was impeccable. My treehouse bungalow was exquisite and was such an exotic experiences. This is certainly one of my favorite hotels in the world. And a trip to their private island is a must. Also their cooking class. A world class experience.
The hotel is amazing. You are away from all the overrun party locations on Barú and have a beach to yourself. A boat will pick you up to take you to Rosario Island or the reef. It is very secluded, the beach and the service as well as the restaurant are excellent.
beautiful hotel with amazing rooms, stunning private beach and the loveliest owner (Olga)! can’t recommend it enough! the best place to escape Cartagena and enjoy the Caribbean sun and sand. the food is delicious and the staff very attentive!
Thé staff, service, food and rooms were wonderful. Very friendly, punctual, and accommodating. Greeted with ease and kindness, with comfortable beds and hot showers. The food was delicious and beautiful setting to soak in the Baru Island.
All of the meals were excellent and the waiters were fantastic. Our room was lovely and very clean and comfortable. All of the staff at the hotel including the drivers and the ladies who gave the massages, were professional and friendly.
I love the most the wonderful setting where the hotel is located: the mangroves by the beach, the tropical trees surrounding the property! The hotel is warm and very nicely decorated with functional features
Gorgeous location and view. Good drinks. Nice service around the pools. Clean. Set in the natural environment and very picturesque. Excellent boat service back to Cartagena.
