When the Spanish founded the city in 1533, the region had already been inhabited for thousands of years. It became an important port for the Spanish gold and a significant political centre. The city is so beautiful in so many ways.

The city is so beautiful in so many ways. There's a lot to see and do. There are some really good restaurants. The only (important) drawback is the number of street vendors anywhere you go. In some places it's ok, in others it's not nice. But it's part of the experience. If you're going to do some island hopping, compare prices and always ask confirmation of what is actually included in the package. Little tip : try the chocolate beer at the Chocolate Museum

A vibrant town that parties til late.

A vibrant town that parties til late. Lots of shops and restaurants. 3 days was the right amount of time. Prices can be high in shops and restaurants as it’s a popular cruise stop. Everyone is hustling selling stuff inc raps! But just be sensible and you should enjoy your time. Free walking tour was great and got to see more than just the old town with guide Legacy from n experience via guru walks.

The city and their people are wonderful.

The city and their people are wonderful. Very interesting historical places and places to have fun. Driving in the city is not as bad as in Medellin, motorcycles are crazy and it seems like they don’t respect the traffic regulations. Cartagena was different.

    Firstly the people!

Firstly the people! They are very warm and welcome foreigners with open arms. The music was amazing! The city is vibrant and the coloured buildings are beautiful. Everything is so lively. The local street dancers and artists just add to this amazing city! The fact that the beach runs parallel to the beach is also a great attraction.

Cartagena is a beautiful city filled with vibrant culture.

Cartagena is a beautiful city filled with vibrant culture. I not once felt unsafe here. The food, the people, the music, everything was great. I had a memorable time in Cartagena and I can’t wait to go back. I Ubered everywhere, which is a very cheap option and I felt a bit safer doing this than taking a taxi as I don’t speak the language. I recommend doing one of the free waking tours around the city, you gain a wealth of knowledge on the history of the city as well as getting an idea of where to go. I did a coffee tasting experience and an ATV tour on terra bomba which was incredible, you can find these activities and more on “get your guide”. Also a great way to meet people if you’re travelling alone.

The city of Cartagena was wonderful. It was full of culture.

The city of Cartagena was wonderful. It was full of culture. I enjoyed walking the streets of the walled city, Getsemaní, and the surrounding areas. I felt safe while doing so. The locals were very friendly. Some people trying to make money or sell items were a little pushy but not over the top. Restaurants were delightful. Wait staff were friendly and accommodating. Anyone was willing to help out the tourists if they could. Let restaurant in Bocagrande was excellent.

This hotel is really central. You are in the heart of the action in the old city which is great. Staff were friendly. Good breakfast served between 7am and 10am. Really good air-con in room which was great. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Nice (albeit small) pool open between 9am and 9pm on roof. Would stay here again.

Great service from all staff members, great facilities and amazing view. Perfect location too, very convenient with a mall right by the hotel if you need to buy anything and about a 15min walk to the old city centre with many cool restaurants and bars (we felt safe walking both during the day and at night).

The hotel is situated perfectly: 2 minutes walk to the beach, and a 10 minutes walk to the old city center. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, especially the receptionist Roxana who is a real pro. It's also very clean.

An amazingly luxurious experience in a beautiful hotel. Staff were exceptional, particularly Felix and his team on the rooftop. Room was super comfortable. Excellent location right in the middle of the old city.

This hotel is great! Right in the old city of Cartagena, where things get loud! However, this is barely noticable in the amazingly decorated room (even has a freaking drums).
