This was a last minute booking on Christmas Eve due to our flight home being canceled. The family who owns this property was SO welcoming and warm, especially Heydey and Josue. They helped us find a restaurant that was open on Christmas Eve and arranged for our meal delivery. The room was clean, the air conditioner worked well + ceiling fan, the bathroom was clean and everything worked well. The breakfast was AMAZING! This isn't a skimpy Continental breakfast. It's a full on cooked breakfast. You get to choose amongst about 8 different meal choices. It includes Costa Rican style food and more generic eggs and bacon type meals. There is fresh fruit, coffee and tea. There are nice seating areas outside to chat with other travelers. There's an open air courtyard that has cool plants. The rooms aren't flashy and slick like a typical American hotel. But our bed was firm and comfortable. The value of this room was EXCELLENT. But the most notable quality of this hotel was the owner's desire to make this a home away from home for the guests. Such amazing kindness that helped us through a stressful night!

We had a great stay at Hotel Liberia in the heart of Liberia just half a block from the plaza. The room was simple, clean and comfortable with air conditioning, and we loved the lush, quiet courtyard complete with lizards and geckos. Edwin and his family are lovely, and a wonderful source of tips and information about sites to visit and yummy places to eat. They supported us to plan outings to the Rincón de la Vieja (which is not to be missed!), the beach at Coco, and the local festive market with live music. Edwin was extremely helpful in organizing transport including a super driver to the Rincón. We really enjoyed the relaxed and friendly atmosphere at Hotel Liberia and talking with Edwin and his family. And the breakfasts were a great bonus too!

The staff and Luis were very kind and accommodating. The hotel was well kept and our room was very clean. Located in downtown but was still very quiet. Secured fenced and gated property so our rental car was safe. 3 choices of breakfast and loved the fresh cas juice!

We are looking forward to returning to Rinconcito Lodge! The whole place is comfortable, we liked our junior mountain suite very much, the staff friendly and helpful, food is very good with an easy-going schedule so we only ate two meals a day, perfect for us. The nesting colony of montezuma oropendola birds at the entrance is amazing! Westayed 4 nights And I’m glad we did. This allowed us to rest one day, then took the combo tour on our second day - Horseback ride into the Santa Maria part of the park, wonderful fun and private uncrowded zip line tour with our guides Jose and Ronald, and continued further into the park on horse guided by Terencio who took us deeper into the park eventually on foot to the warm springs river and waited very patiently while we had lunch there and enjoyed the warm waters. he even helped us with the mud. our third day we drove ourselves into the Pailas sector of the park and did our own hiking tour. Rinconcito is a peaceful place with no pressure. as far as we can tell the rooms are all very nice with a range of qualities from smaller rooms close together to the more separate mountain suites that we stayed in. oh a great trail on the property to a waterfall we swam under too.

    DONT go to Tamarindo - was there 5 years ago and now it’s called Tamagringo - everything was expensive and VERY touristy. We got ripped off a lot .. Still some nice unspoiled parts of Liberia if you stay off the beaten track .

    Costa Rica is wonderful and the central park in Liberia was a really nice place to stop and have lunch. The park has a statue commemorating the actions of Juan Santamaria, Costa Rica's national hero. It is a great story detailing human courage and how important one man can be in the greater scheme of things.

    It´s a well developed city at the heart of Guanacaste.

    It´s a well developed city at the heart of Guanacaste. You can find all the main businesses and stores in the country. It´s also conveniently located near the main tourist attractions like Rincon de la Vieja national park, La Leona waterfall hike, Santa Rosa National Park and the Papagayo peninsula beaches among others.

    I used Liberia as a transfer point to get into southern Nicaragua. It was a far better option for me than flying into Managua. Liberia was great for that reason. I did not explore beyond the Liberia hotel location. I thought that my hotel was pricey for what I got-- $80 for a 3 star average hotel. HOWEVER, the hotels out by the airport are as expensive ($150-170 U.S.) as a San Francisco airport hotel. There is a shuttle charge of about $30 to get from Liberia to hotel (about 9 miles). Take a Uber for $11 U.S. and they drop you a few hundred yards from airport. I know that people need to make money, but I have a budget too--Uber was the way to go. I hear that Uber is not legal, but it worked for me.

    We only stayed here for one night, on our way home. A lovely family owns this hotel. Room is very clean and the breakfasts were fantastic!!! The hotel is about 1.5 km from the center of town. We were able to walk where we needed to get to. They have a family member who drives shuttles for them. They were able to arrange a shuttle to the airport.

    Location is very convenient if you stay here for a first/last night after/before your flight from Liberia Airport (which was my case). The staff is super friendly and the pool area is well taken care of. Breakfast is ok. Good for one night stay.
