Everything from the staff, the setting, the location, and the food was perfect. Everyone was attentive and gave us great recommendations on what to do while we were visiting the area. The garden area was one of the nicest places to hang out in all of the places that we visited in Costa Rica!

We stayed at Hotel Tajalin for three nights and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is ideally situated in a peaceful area, yet close to key attractions like the beach, town center, and waterfalls. The staff were exceptional—friendly and welcoming. They provided comprehensive information about local attractions and arranged tours with local agencies, including Isla Tortuga, Bioluminescence, and Snorkeling. Cindy, one of the staff members, offers Spanish and English classes. I took a Spanish class with her, which was incredibly helpful in refreshing my language skills. The rooms and shared kitchen were spotless. Overall, I highly recommend Hotel Tajalin to anyone visiting Montezuma.

Great spot for Yoga lovers, food is great (mostly veggie), amazing views and access to the hanging bridges. The staff is very friendly and will help you with anything. There is some construction going on in some rooms but I did not hear anything. You need a car as this is on top of a very steep hill.

Nice big comfortable room. Pretty gardens with a walking trail and a secret hideaway. Pool as well. Lovely place with friendly staff. Loved that they had a shared kitchen as well.

    There were people from all parts of the world in one little town. It is worth exploring the surrounding areas, because the actual town of Montezuma is rather small. There are different dining and lodging options for all tastes and budgets. The town/beach is at the bottom of a very steep hill, and getting up and down could be a challenge for walkers.

    Some great restaurants!

    Some great restaurants! We especially enjoyed Playa de Los Artistas, Soda La Naranja, and Cocolores. We also enjoyed morning yoga at Ylang Ylang, the accessibility of the beach, and the walkability of the town and local waterfalls. Fun music scene at night if that’s your thing.

    Montezuma is a quiet beach town, has enough places to eat, a grocery store, but is not a party place. Our house was up the heal, between the trees with lots of birds and animals around. In the evenings we would sit outside, but keep the windows and doors closed, that nothing could go in. We had airconditioning, but we just used it to cool off the place, then it stayed cool for the night. Lots of beaches to choose from and lots of waterfalls to visit.

    montezuma and its beach are overestimated: generally dirty whereas Costa Rica constantly shows great respect for its natural surroundings. Not worth the diversions at all! Except for the road and the scenery to get there

    You must have a car to get around to the beaches of...

    You must have a car to get around to the beaches of Montezuma and the roads are rough. Grocery stores are hard to find if you want to cook at all in your rented villa. Ocean super warm and wonderful--loved Tambor beach. Wonderful fresh fish market there.

    Very small town with little to do. 3-5 nights is more than enough time to see the area. Tourists (and locals) on loud motorbikes and ATVs are everywhere day and night. Not the quiet jungle getaway we imagined.

    We loved staying at Jodokus Inn. It is in an amazing situation with views over the ocean and beautiful plants and forest surrounding it. We saw howling monkeys and lots of birds on the property. Host provided fruit, bread and eggs for us to make our breakfast. He also had good recommendations for places to eat and was happy and quick to respond to any questions. The Inn was for us oldies a 40 min walk up steep hills from Montezuma but we didn't mind because it was nice to be away from the traffic noise and bustle of town.

    The rustic nature of the property, just absorbed into the jungle. It was beautifully designed, staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was amazing. The views from our room and the hotel garden were outstanding. Loved to hear the story of our the owners started the property in the 80s /90s with their love for Montezuma. Great experience walking up to the Montezuma waterfall, we left at 7 and had the waterfall to ourselves for swimming. Also the whole vibe of the laid back town of Montezuma itself.

    The hotel is run by a great team - who were very helpful throughout my stay. The room was large and comfortable with good facilities, nice bathroom, amazing (and appreciated) air con and a lovely sitting area outside to enjoy the view and to try and spot a monkey or two. There was also a pool and jacuzzi which was getting good use. Fab location in Montezuma. If you need laundry doing they can sort this for you - I dropped mine off in the am and for it back at the end I’d the day - great.

    Paradise on earth! Irene, the manager was extremly helpful and did not hasitate to help us with bus tickets and offered free laundry as well! The Los Caballos is located a bit outside of the busy Montezuma. There is no traffic noise audible, and believe it or not, they have perfect road signs leading you to the place which is quite unusual in Costa Rica. After staying in Montezuma several times I would highly recommend this lovely place!

    The hotel is perfectly placed. Close enough to all amenities and yet not in ‘the thick of it’. Our room was clean and comfortable with a terrace overlooking a public park. The rooms could do with some updating but it certainly didn’t detract from our stay. There is an on-site kitchen for the use of guests which is a bonus. It was value for money and Montezuma is well worth a visit.
