Hotel El Sueño located in Monteverde Costa Rica, features free Wi-Fi in all areas, free breakfast and a furnished wooden terrace. Room was spotless and had space to unpack instead of living out of a backpack on the floor Good hot shower Excellent breakfast with 3 choices of cooked meal, plus fruit, tea/coffee and juice Genuinely helpful staff (not just selling tours); Spanish and English spoken
Coati Place B&B is located in Monteverde, Costa Rica , 3.5 km from Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. Breakfast is very nice, a bit different every day and more than enough to start your day and explore the area, which they help you organize. They arranged canopy, taxis, coffee tour and shuttle to La Fortuna. Don't book any activities in advance, they have a nice map with recommended places. Excellent WIFI
Located in Monteverde Costa Rica, 3.5 km from Sky Adventures Monteverde, Hotel Casa Madonna provides accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. Casa Madonna was a great place to stay with a very clean room, great staff, great breakfast, and did a great job setting up a last minute shuttle to Salvatore in the afternoon as well as our fantastic guide, David, for our early morning walk in Monteverde park. The rooms are simple and comfortable, and the facility has good parking as well as a good location for walking to coffee, food, and shopping without being on the busier streets. Recommend paying the little extra for upper floor rooms. The only regret we had is not staying another night to do more in the area, and will definitely stay at Casa Madonna when we get back. Note, if visiting Monteverde park, factor in an extra 10min for parking and shuttling the last 1/2 mile in.
A good base while visiting Monteverde. Good range of shops, bars and restaurants. We used Sky tours to book a guided tour of the forest and hanging bridges and zip lining. That was an amazing experience for this nervous 60 year old but would do it again in a heartbeat.
Beautiful place... Very peaceful but with a lot of activities... The briges and canopy, the ficus trees, all the birds and animals... I really enjoy everything I did and visited... I wish I could come back soon
Go to Carne y Tinto. One of the best steakhouses I have been to in the world! Order the pork chop in Sabor Tico. Monteverde and Santa Elena is so touristy, whilst I like the wildlife etc, I hated the fact that everything was a tour. They were never salesy but it just felt like you couldn't be too independent.
Very charming place, much more nicer than La Fortuna which is too touristic. The forests are very nice, full of birds. The road to Santa Elena is not paved but we did it with a Hyundai I10 (small car) without any trouble. We liked Curi Cancha reserve where he had a guide for bird watching.
We liked the friendly atmosphere in town - it's a great little place to just wander around. We can especially recommend ristorante Bonanza, just along the road from Nuestra Kasa. Great Costan Rican food at very reasonable prices. The tours are expensive - but this is Costa Rica. We did a marvellous night walk with Santa Maria tours, and can really recommend the Butterfly garden. The forest walks in the reserves are just beautiful .. we saw toucans and plenty of other birds that we couldn't identify, and were bowled over by the beauty of the rain forest and the cloud forest. At 75 and 68 we feel age disqualified for zip lining and the like, but the younger crowd seemed to be having a great time.
We went in the Trapeche coffee tour. Great tour. We also did Sky Trek tram suspension bridge and zip, lining tour but my husband went ten years ago and liked the zip, lining better at Selaventure tours
