The suites are stunning with wonderful character. The layout works very well to provide seclusion and inclusion at the same time. The suites really do provide true beach views especially to enjoy sunrise. The restaurant is good and very fairly priced.

The explanations by Thomas at the beginning were inspiring. The details of his luxury and very clean and secure resort were outstanding. We experienced more wildlife (animals) in his resort than in the guided tours around the country. We stayed 5 days and were pleased to go back to this oasis every evening.

There were three of us who stayed in the three bedroom villa, next to the forest frequented by howler monkeys. The interior is rustic, just as we wanted. We provided our own meals without any problems. The owner Brigit was super helpful, and in addition toi explaining details of how to get around by car for shopping, retaurants etc, she provided the essential help for us to get to the right place to commence our salt water fishing session. This required WhatsApp calls and messaging, which she offered to initiate, rather than us asking.
This all-inclusive resort with outdoor swimming pool is located on Playa Tambor volcanic sand beach. It offers spectacular views of Bahía Ballena Bay on one side and lush hills on the other.

The hotel has lovely grounds where you can see a lot of wildlife. The food was good, albeit not very variated.

The property was perfect, the grounds were well kept, the pool area super relaxing, surrounded by wildlife, the rooms spotless and smelt amazing! Such lovely attention to detail every night a little something sweet left in your room, the food was very tasty in the restaurant, all homemade food! The staff were so welcoming, friendly and helpful, we could use the space to workout which had lots of great equipment and you were in the jungle! Everything walking distance, we didn’t want to leave!

Very pretty big house with a great kitchen and pretty garden around with fresh fruit. The rooms are nice and clean, though there are a lot of ants and other insects due to the forest around. The host ist very nice and always available for any issues. Only slightly negative thing is the location, as it is quite far from the small city. It’s 30 min by foot down to the beach/Montezuma or a 6000 colones taxi ride up/down. The host does however offer to drive you up/down one time a day.
Overall we had a lovely time!

Nice hotel about 2km far from Montezuma village and Montezuma beach.
We had a perfect breakfast there.
Everything as presented.
Communication with the hotel staff was perfect (dinning & trips tips, advices, ...).

The setting at this property is spectacular! If you are looking for a place that is quiet with beautiful scenery over looking the ocean. Look no further. My recommendation to the manager is to have drone video footage of the property so quests could see the layout of the casita's, pool area and grounds.

Playa Tambor is a sleepy little village, very quiet.
Playa Tambor is a sleepy little village, very quiet. The beach itself is very nice, especially when the tide is out, there are large sand flats. There is a small resort just off the beach called the Tambor Tropical resort which we used for drinks and lunch, very nice, all outdoor tables and bar, great staff.
We spent one day at Santa Theresa beach, about 45 minute drive away. Fantastic beach, busy beach town, great if you want to watch the surfers, go for a beautiful long walk or lounge around on the beach. Not that great for actual swimming since it is quite flat, you need to walk out a long way to get to your waist. We didn't eat while there so I can't comment on restaurants except to say there where lots of them.
We found the whole area beautiful and intend to visit again.

The hotel is very well looked after and clean.
The hotel is very well looked after and clean. Food was good not great but no complaints. Drinks were simple but adequate No real mojito here. Very little English speaking workers and was frustrating. I personally would not recommend the hotel unless you spoke Spanish. The hotel is shooting themselves in the foot by not attracting guests I would not recommend the hotel to family and friends for that reason and we heard that from many English guests
The Disco at night had no one in it and the music blasted so load with the base boom boom boom till 3 am
Wrong music for the majority of your travellers and started at 11 pm to late for many
Staff was friendly and wanted to help just that language barrier
When you went out to eat any place on the property the staff are oblivious if you require more coffee or water or wine. You have to flag them down

Small village, isolated - at the bottom of the peninsula. Road to get there is slow and curvy (suggest only driving during daylight, if you are driving a rental). Great restaurants and has a local grocery store. ATM about 5min away, or a full bank / ATM about 20min drive (Cobano town).

Tambor is a strange place, dominated by a big all-inclusive resort hotel and a massive golf community development, which together make the beach access very limited, unfortunate for anyone who doesn't stay or live at either place. There are not a lot of restaurants or a real centre to Tambor and we ended up going to Cobano for shopping and dining and spent a great day in Montezuma, where we would go back to in the future.

The place it’s self is in an ideal location.
The place it’s self is in an ideal location. However, the rooms are dated and need updating. You can only eat there and I just found the food a little expensive and not particularly inspiring. We traveled around Costa Rica and stayed at 4 different places. This was the least enjoyable part of our trip. We spent 3 nights there I wish we had stayed in Santa Teresa and Hermosa longer. The food is far superior and cheaper in these areas and more reflective of Costa Rica. This is probably an ideal location for the older traveller as it’s quite and on the beach. The water was almost inaccessible as the waves dump you back on the beach. So we had to use the 3 pools they have which are small the water was almost jacuzzi hot and not pleasant.
Staff were great and helpful so no complaints there.
The golf course unless you have your own clubs I would give a miss due to the dated equipment you hire.

TOO FAR.
TOO FAR. IT TOOK US ABOUT 3 AND A HALF HOURS TO GET THERE FROM THE AIRPORT. THE DRINKS WERE AWFUL! WE ASKED FOR MARGARITAS, OHHH MY GOD! JUST LEMONADE WITH SALT! TERRIBLE! WE JUST HAD BEER BECAUSE THE LIQUOR WAS JUST PLAIN INFERIOR!
SAME FOOD EVERY SINGLE DAY!
We loved our stay here. Will recommend to friends and family planning a trip to the region for sure and if we're back in the area will definitely come back to see Thomas and his beautiful hotel. Beautiful private rooms, AC worked wonderfully, pool was basically private as no one used it while we were there, and we saw howler monkeys and Scarlett macaws. Incredible spot!
The setting was beautiful, tranquil, surrounded by fields and forest. Excellent for morning birding walks and a short walk from Tambor beach. William, the manager, was a lovely man, very friendly and helpful. Fresh sea bass from the local fishermen on the BBQ.
Costa Coral is a beautiful hotel. The room felt more like a suite, was comfortable and clean. Gabby is so welcoming and helpful. Any inquiries I had if she didn't know she found out for me and arranged transportation.
Great pools, awful food, terrible staff that don’t speak English, long queues for drinks and almost no alcohol in the drinks.
I’ve cancelled other trips in this hotel
