Nice resort and great staff, but not our type of holiday. We cycled around Cuba and wanted a couple of relaxing days. Most guest comes for the sun (was impossible to get a sun bed at the pool!), but we want to be more active and their were limited sports activities on offer
The beach was absolutely beautiful and snorkeling was a lot of fun as was hiking to overlook the resort from the top of the "hill" (mountain) which offered wonderful pictures. There was a local restaurant very close to Memories Jibacoa that offered a fabulous lobster dinner for only 15 CUC. Be sure to also visit the Pina Colada stand for a real authentic pina colada, and don't be afraid to ask for more rum! Hiring a private car or taxi into Havana was only 60 CUC during our stay which was very convenient.
There is a healthy reef close to shore with excellent snorkeling. Lots of fish and beautiful coral can be seen. The sand is white and powdery. Other water activities are provide by beach resorts along the beach to its guest. Day passes may be available.
It's a pretty quiet place with older clientele, but perfect to get away and relax without internet. The staff and location is excellent, it takes about an hour to get there from Havana. The food is good, especially if you get the upgraded Diamond service.
