Vinales was the best! Beautiful jungle, awesome mogotes and lovely farmland make for a beautiful backdrop to whatever activity you are perusing. There is lots of hiking through the nearby national park, rock climbing, horseback riding, caving, and many more activities. The food is great and everyone was very friendly.
Casa Jorge Y Ana Luis was a wonderful, surprisingly new and charming casa particular in the town of Viñales (a rustic town in the beautiful region of Viñales, a UNESCO World Heritage site), by far the nicest one we saw in town. It is close to everything: hiking/biking trails, coffee and tobacco plantations, and the heart of the town. The casa is just off the main street, so you are not bothered by traffic. The rooms are spacious and light, with ample windows, artwork, modern bathroom, and fridge with reasonably priced waters and other beverages. The rooms also have wonderful covered patios on new tile with lounge chairs to relax and watch the world go by. In the charming open air dining room in back, the family and their staff make delicious, extremely affordable breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, prepared with food from their family farm. A rooftop deck with rocking chairs affords views of the lush landscape, including nearby mogotes, especially pretty at sunset. Ana Luisa and her nephew Rey were extremely welcoming and responsive, arranging bike rentals, taxis, and anything else we needed. We hope to return soon!
