A town without charm that we had chosen to explore Tarrafal...

A town without charm that we had chosen to explore Tarrafal and Ribeira da Barca and possibly Malagueta Park, but the peaks were in the clouds, so no park for us, the fishing village was not great, 1 restaurant open and a tout who wants to take you to the cave at all costs, and Tarrafal was just average in the end, a nice beach but not very big and a village without any appeal.

The market is a wonderful experience.

The market is a wonderful experience. You can wander around the stalls both inside and outside the market halls. It's held on Saturdays and Wednesdays. It turns out there was a party on Sunday evening in the central square near the shopping center, featuring various batuque performances. A wonderful experience, which was entirely by chance. Definitely worth checking out if you're visiting Assomada!

For women traveling alone, it's a bit difficult to have the...

For women traveling alone, it's a bit difficult to have the same experiences we had as a couple. Men dominate in public. But women control the important social life. Daily life in Cape Overdode looks like paradise for men, since wealthy men can have several wives, but life there works differently. It's the women who are in charge.
