Friendly lady at the reception but also during breakfast. I ate a very good cachupa, served with 2 eggs above.
We also appreciate that our delay of one day at arrival was not charged, due to the LUXAIR which couldn’t land at Mindelo airport in time.

MoroccoWe had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Although it’s located right in the city center, the surroundings are surprisingly quiet, which made it easy to relax after a busy day. The hotel itself feels very new and well maintained the bathroom was spotless and equipped with modern amenities.
The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, always ready to help with a smile, which really enhanced the overall experience. I genuinely enjoyed my time here and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and a welcoming atmosphere

The owners where very accommodating and friendly they provided guidance..The staff was excellent and trustworthy., especially the ladies that clean my room and change my sheets daily. The hotel have a safe which I didn’t have to use because I felt comfortable with the staff.
My my main concern when I booked was my safety being a solo traveler and 20 years since the last time that I visited the islands.The owners made sure that while I was a guest at Royal mindelo I was protected and safe.The cleanliness in this place is superb.
I had breakfast every morning it was excellent and delicious the coffee was really good.
Thank you so much.
I will stay again .

The carnival time is one of the best times to enjoy Mindelo. Very colourful, lots of excitement and great atmosphere. You should try the local food, cachupa and the kamoka ice cream. Sao Pedro, close to the airport is a great place to see the turtles. The fish museum is adjacent to the African market where you can get souvenirs.

Cesaria Evora museum is small but nice to do. The tavern, Italian restaurant was a good choice. Popular as well is Metalo restaurant, is much bigger with live music with a more fast food menu. The Sunday carnaval in Ribeira Bote was also a pleasant happening.

The city is quite compact, and you can easily explore the entire city center in a day. The more rural areas on the outskirts are less attractive, but I didn’t feel unsafe there.
There are plenty of great bars and restaurants with live music in the evenings. Le Metalo was my favorite—both the food at the restaurant and the street food were excellent.
The Municipal Market was a lovely spot, offering a variety of local souvenirs along with some random Chinese goods. The boutiques were similar—featuring a mix of local products and many Chinese-made items.
The architecture is a blend of beautifully renovated historical buildings, modern constructions, dilapidated houses, and industrial structures.
The people were fantastic. I had no trouble asking for photos or advice. It probably would have been easier to communicate in Kriolu, Portuguese, or French, but English worked in most basic situations.

It is not a destination city but serves as a good launching point for hiking or boating around the islands. Most stores only take local currency and cash. Limited stores and supplies. Quiet little town

I am orginally from Mindelo so this is home away from home.
I am orginally from Mindelo so this is home away from home. My city is easily accessible by walking or car. People are friendly and the food is amazing. I love sitting at local coffee shops like Kafe Djan Djan and Prassa 3 and also having some ice cream Cremositos - the best italian ice cream around.

This is a truly delightful hotel in downtown Mindelo. Our room was spacious and featured a wonderful balcony. I was traveling with my kids, and we all loved staying at Santa Cruz Boutique Hotel—especially enjoying the terrace with the Jacuzzi.
The staff were outstanding—always attentive to our needs, whether it was helping us schedule activities in São Vicente or simply providing cutlery and extra towels when needed.

Classy hotel in the harbour. Lazy cocktails by the pool, and on the doorstep of a stroll through Mindelo! It's also perfectly located to hop on the ferry to Santo Antao, which is a MUST. we didn't have the time to hike there, but did a day trip, arranged by Patrick at the hotel. Excellent day. The decor in the room was exquisite. The room also had a nice lounge area. Perfect!

Great apartment in the center of Mindelo, very responsive host. We especially appreciated a large, fully equipped kitchen - after a week in hotels it was refreshing to make our own meals. Would certainly stay again!
