Very quiet almost deserted. A couple of good restaurants but these were empty. A nice looking sqare but again empty. Some small mini markets selling essentials. Not aware of any lengthy walks from this area. Each day drove to Troodos for a walk. Ate twice in the hotel, food was delicious. Bars mentioned in guide books were either closed or shut down.
It's a beautiful place and thoughtfully restored. The whole area of the troodos mountains is rich with history, culture, nature. I love it. I can't say much about restaurants as I cooked my own food. As I came mainly to rest, i stayed on the village for the first 5 days, and it was just what the Dr ordered... Then I travelled in the area, each day to a different direction, and enjoyed to discover villages, valleys, mountains.
Kakopetria is ideally located for mountain walks and seeing the local history, with plenty of clean mountain air and water. It’s also easy to get to Nicosia and the beaches near Limassol (car needed). Great places to eat locally
It's nice and quiet for a weekend getaway, though I expected more restaurants, cafes to be open especially being weekend.. Overall though good location to visit other mountain sites and walk around enjoy some nature..
We really liked that the restaurants were still open in Kakopetria in mid October. The weather was great too. We particularly liked our mountain walks. The botanical garden, geology centre and the Adventure park nearby are definitely worth a visit.
The receptionist was great, she was really busy but always had time for us and our little dog.Nothing was too much trouble.we ate in the hotel one lunch time, the food was very good and breakfast very filling. We ate in a small friendly restaurant in the village square. The food was very good and they are very dog friendly. Kakopetria is easily accessible, but walking round the village is better, especially in the very narrow streets.

Absolutely picturesque location in Old Kakopetria down a narrow cobbled lane. Rooms are traditional with basic facilities with private balconies over a babbling stream. Beautiful area for walking and exploring. Many restaurants a short walk down the hill. The lady who showed us to our room was absolutely lovely and clearly keen to help, despite a language barrier.
