CanadaWe stayed at Charlie a total of 7 nights although our visit was broken up. The hosts went out of their way to assist us with a scheduling problem - they were exceptionally helpful. The apartment is just off the main square on the third floor of a historic building. The apartment is lovely, with a big, comfortable kitchen which lets onto a large terrace. It is clean and modern. We look forward to staying at Charlie again if we visit Cheb.

Cheb is a town with a fascinating history and a main square...
Cheb is a town with a fascinating history and a main square (commemorating King John of Podebrad) that has buildings dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries. Check out particularly the houses at the far end of the square and read their history. It's a varied and interesting street scene. The main church at the far end of the square is Romanesque in origin but parts were destroyed in the war. As always in central Europe some buildings suffered in the various wars in the 16th and 17th centuries. Some buildings are typical of the Art Nouveau/secession style and have been well restored. We were really glad to have visited this part of Sudetenland - now ,of course thoroughly Czech even if some people do still speak some German. Restaurants weren't particularly memorable but the beer (as always!) good. Always make sure you arrive at a restaurant by 7.30 latest: most close at 8.00Guest review byValerieAustria - 10.0

Medieval town with very nice city center. You can visit Cheb castle, town's museum (spent 3 hours there!), retro museum, multiple churches and monasteries or you can tak a train and in few minutes you're in bath city of Františkovy Lázně, or SOOS. Cheb's chief attraction is its main square, full of beautiful old painted houses. I visited in May, and though there were tourists about, it wasn't overcrowded. Nor was it overpriced - coffees, restaurants and delicious Italian ice creams were very good value.
