We stayed over Christmas, visiting a relative who lives there. I found the German Christmas a much quieter and rather nicer season than the UK version. Of course we loved the Christmas markets, and went to the opera. It’s an easy place to get around walking or on the trams.

Great little town with lots of history surrounding it..you can see the original city wall from the 14th hundreds...I think it was build around 1425...if you have a car everything/town is easy to reach. Darmstadt is a great location as it sits on two main autobahns, so getting anywhere in Germany is easy. Especially in Hessen. Its a big enough town to have all the conveniences, shops , restaurants etc.

(Spain to Denmark) The hotel is surrounded by an incredible forest where we went for a morning walk with them. Our dogs were allowed into the hotel restaurant with us.
