We could have stayed in Heidenheim a *little* (not "much") longer, to see the Roman museum, for example. The reason for the visit was a performance of Tannhäuser at the summer Opernfestpiele. It was very high quality, even though moved at short notice (actually, without any on-site notice at all) from the picturesque outdoor ruined-castle setting to a nearby conference centre. This actually benefited it in terms of acoustics.

Heidenheim has been twinned with Newport since the early 80, s. I ha E been lucky yo visit many times and see how it has changed. Like most towns across the UK Heidenheim is seeing many local businesses close leaving the main street looking unloved and run down. However the shopping arcade is full a wide range of shops and appears to be thriving. Is very much family orientated and the restaurants are homely welcoming and serve good food.

From $73 per nightThe staff at the hotel were really thoughtful and friendly. Despite the extremely warm weather the room stayed relatively cool. The air in the room was fresh and there were no triggering odors (suitable for persons who get migraine easily). Good parking and was easy to come and go with own car. Also it takes about 30 minutes to walk to the center so you might not even need to use the car. Food in the restaurant was really good. Staff speaks English. I can warmly recommend this hotel and would gladly stay there again in the future.

Room was very spacious and comfortable, though no air conditioning. But we only had one really hot day. Breakfast buffet was nice with both an indoor and outdoor area. The hotel accepts pets, important to us with a small dog. We had a small outside area that looked out on the castle on the next hill.

it was a beautiful hotel close to the Schloss and a short walk to the centre of town. the room was lovely with a view of the town and the schloss- with a little terrace. the restaurant was amazing with fabulously delicious food, brilliantly served and awesome desserts too.
