I can recommend that quaint town to everyone who enjoys walking up some hills without getting too exhausted - Großer Feldberg or Altkönig are just perfect for that purpose... until one just needs to make it to over a kilometre above the sea level! And the swimming pool is much spot on, especially past 6 pm.

Königstein is one of the wealthiest commuter towns in the Frankfurt am Main region. It has a pleasant old town which is worth walking in. Google Maps says walks are "Mostly flat". Of course, that is a subjective evaluation changes (about 500 meters up and down). For us, coming from a very flat Berlin, it understates the elevation which is not the Matterhorn, but is definitely not a "mostly flat" walk. So wear comfortable walking shoes. We had dinner at the Landgut Falkenstein which is a very chic hotel location with a very good restaurant, but the prices reflect the expensive location.

It's a atmospheric small town in the hills north of Frankfurt, ideal for hiking and cycling in the super-clean air. The forests surrounding it are endless. It's a high-end place to live, so there are also nice cafes and plenty of restaurants, and some very nice shops. Oh yes, and make sure to visit the castle and climb its tower for wide-ranging views…

See reviews by guests who stayed at hotels in Königstein im Taunus
First of all, we were amazed by the cleanliness: the bathroom, the most problematic space even in much more expensive hotels, was sparkling! I liked the bed and pillows a lot, but my husband thought they were too soft, so it depends on personal preferences. The room was spacious, and it was a lovely surprise to wake up with a view of the hills. Breakfast was nice, with no hot options except for boiled eggs, but there were fruits and vegetables besides your standard Müsli and bread. Overall, the hotel exceeded our expectations.
