Although known for the Nuremberg Trials, this Bavarian city has a stunning medieval core of cobbled streets and half-timbered buildings that wouldn’t look out of place in a fairy tale. Sitting above this is the castle, one of the most important in the Holy Roman Empire. Take the steep walk up here for fantastic old town views.
Hauptmarkt square in the old town is home to an unusual-looking church and a Gothic fountain, spectacularly lit during the annual Nuremberg Christmas markets. Selling everything from wooden toys to lebkuchen (gingerbread), these are widely considered the best Christmas markets in Germany.
Other attractions in Nuremberg (Nürnberg in German) include the Germanisches Nationalmuseum, the country’s largest museum of culture and art. Another highlight is the Heilig-Geist-Spital, a medieval hospital by the Pegnitz River.
A word must also be said about its relationship with Nazism. On the south-east corner are the immense Nazi Rally Grounds and Party Congress Hall, built in appropriately domineering fashion. The excellent Documentation Center here is a sensitive and unbiased portrayal of life under Hitler. It is also possible to visit the courtroom where the war trials were held.
Before leaving your Booking.com apartment, hotel or hostel to go to Nuremberg Airport, don’t forget to try the spicy local sausage!

Great city, a lot to see - the castle is worth a lengthy visit, the Nuremberg trials courtroom and exhibition is informative and very interesting. There are a lot of nice buildings and shops in the old town, it’s just nice to wander around and experience the atmosphere. There are plenty of museums, and the gingerbread is fantastic. The people are lovely - everyone was helpful when we asked for directions, and two very nice young men helped me with my luggage at the train-station when the lift was not working. I definitely recommend this for a stay (2 to 3 days is a good time).

We loved Nuremberg, the city is all nice but the old town is particularly beautiful. It's well worth visiting the Zeppelin field/grandstand, the whole area is of great historical interest. We also visited the site of the Nuremberg Trials at the Palace of Justice, it's an incredible place. I would highly recommend Nuremberg, we will definitely be returning.

The old town was perfect for walking around.
The old town was perfect for walking around. The old churches and castle are a must see. The transportation to the airport and other tourist sites are easy to use and very affordable. We stayed there 3 days and absolutely loved it. The restaurants were amazing. We had traditional German food, Italian and Irish food. All were equally delicious.

This was out fourth visit to Nurberg.
This was out fourth visit to Nurberg. We highly recommend this destination to the people who like European and German history and culture. The castle with the Kaiser's chapel and nice views, old cathedrals - St. Sebald's, St. Lawrence's and Our Lady's, cosy houses and huge city wall towers. Magnificent Germanishe Museum. Recommend it! We also like Albrecht Durer's house and the old hospital at the isle.
In the evening, however, the majority of peole in the streets are migrants, though not agressive.
We had the best stay at this hotel - our room was spacious, clean, modern and super comfortable! We also appreciated all the little extras such as the coffee machine, luxury soaps, complimentary water and ginger bread on arrival etc! The location is also perfect - easy walk to the train station as well as the old town and city centre. The staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Monki restaurant is delicious too! We couldn’t fault anything and would definitely be back!
My second visit to this hotel and the experience was as good as last time. NIce hotel with friendly staff and a superb breakfast which for us was key. Clean and comfortable rooms with a nice bathroom. Close to the park by Wöhrdersee and within walking distance to the city centre.
The hotel is on the best part of the city, very close to the old town and the main touristic spots. Although it is an old building, the place is very clean and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff is super friendly and helpful too.
Located in the heart of the city, the hotel is ideal if you want to explore the old town and have quick access to cafes and restaurants. The room was spacious and quiet with a very comfortable bed. The staff is extremely kind and helpful
