Located in a valley, the city offers beautiful views to the surrounding mountains and is a good starting point to explore them. It is worth it to climb the Domberg, which overshadows the city until the Ottilienchapel, which offers a nice view over the city or even to the top that has a tower with a panoramic view of South Thuringia. The city itself is rather quiet and mostly elder people are to see. The downtown has some decent restaurant options, like the Greek restaurant Delphi or the fish restaurant "Gastmahl des Meeres".
