Great historical hotel right on the Mosel River. The hotel is clean and comfortable, it has a long time history. The breakfast view is breathtaking, seems like you sit right on a river bench. All around is associated with famous German Riesling wine, all around are vineyards and small towns with rich wine culture. Cochem town is very near to the hotel, it is a great place to visit the 12th-century castle and take a tour inside. everywhere around you will find a good bottle of local wine.

It seems that the place quite new as a hotel, but existed before as a locale. Our rooms were not in the same building as the locale, but in another building nearby. The two room suite was spacious, there is a large balcony. In these rather cold spring days it was important to ask to turn on the heat, and it worked very well. The breakfast was tasty. People are very friendly. The location, the town of Karden and the town of Tries on the other side, are quite interesting themselves. But it is also possible to walk to Burg Eltz (approximately 8-10 km, depending on the route, some of shorter routes are quite steep). If one goes a few stops by train to Moselkern, then there is even shorter and easier "main" walking route to Burg Eltz (approx. 5 km). If one goes to a plateau directly above Karden, then additionally to spectacular views on Moselle and a nice path through a small forest, there is something like a field-museum complex of Celtic-Roman-culture on a place of ancient site (during our visit the buildings were closed, it makes sense to check when there are excursions there).

Right on the river, easy to reach from train station, bus stop across the street, easy car parking. Comfortable rooms, nicely decorated and with tall ceilings. Clean. Balconies have beautiful views of the river, lovely to watch the boats pass by. Large beds. The owner was available and happy to answer questions. Breakfast was included in our room rate and we were glad for it -- a nice "cold buffet" that included bread, eggs, ham, cheese, and coffee or tea. Charming older building (no elevator). You really feel like a guest here, not just a customer.
