Quito's historic old town is beautiful and many of the top attractions are quite close together for easy walking. All of the landmark churches are well worth a visit, as is a stop at the Virgin of El Panecillo that overlooks the city. Casa del Alabado is a Precolumbian Art Museum that's easy to miss but worth finding. We felt quite safe in all areas tourists frequent during the day. Due to concerns about crime, streets tend to empty as it gets dark, so it's nice to have a hotel with a nice atmosphere to return to at the end of the day.
Loved the historic center. The city has some great restaurants but we decided to go in a taxi from the hotel r/t as we were told the streets around the hotel aren't safe. Great place for chocolate (Minka café above the square at St. Francis Church.....extraordinary!), buying hats (Lopez) near the same square, great city life in the historic center!
Quito was OK. We stayed there for a total of four nights in transit to other locations in Ecuador. Never felt unsafe but such strong recommendations (including travel sites and locals) to watch for pickpockets and not to go out at night that we never felt really free to go out on our own. Did a guided tour. Took cabs to restaurants; food good but not memorable. Museums mildly interesting. Did day trip to a preserve for orchids; knew there wouldn’t be many due to season but it was a nice hike. It was fine. Would not travel just to see Quito.
Acogedora Suite (aka Suites San Francisco) is in an eastern suburb of Quito; thus, this stay was outside Quito. Having said that, I LIKE Quito and almost always enjoy my travels to the city. I consider it The Gem of the Andes. It is crowded and busy, as well as run-down in may areas, but the location is unsurpassed. An added advantage to Quito is that, in general, the Ecuadorians are friendly and courteous. Of course, as for any big-city, there ARE barios to avoid....
Don't forget to visit the teleférico (fabulous view of the city) and great hiking. Also, the historic city center is lovely. Do put the La Casa Museo Guayasamín (museum and home of painter Oswaldo Guayasamín). His work and art collections are very interesting and the home is a treasure. If you are in town on a Sunday with nothing to do, go to the Parque Carolina on an afternoon and people watch. This huge park is full of families, recreation and vendors of all kinds of food and merchandise. Very enjoyable.
The ride up to the top of the mountain was fun. We visited the equator museum which was interesting. We took a bike tour on Sunday which was a nice way to see part of the town, with a stop at a nice market for lunch. Quito is a place that has several interesting places to go to nearby. Cotapaxi, Mindo cloud forest, Otavalo, lots of history right in the center of town.
The hotel arranged my pick up at the airport which was great. Check in was quick and simple and they made sure I found my room. The room was very clean and quite big with a nice bathroom. I also appreciated having a ceiling fan in the room, which is something you don’t often see in Ecuador. Breakfast and coffee in the morning were good and there was a coffee/ tea station on my floor, but unfortunately didn’t find until after breakfast. The common areas of the hotel and restaurant and very nicely decorated and very welcoming.
This place is amazing I loved every second of it. The warm and welcoming staff not only that but they also gave me great advice about the city even called me a taxi for the airport. The food was served warm with delicious fruit and natural juice and coffee. Even the cleaning done to the room was outstanding everything was super clean with fresh sheets every morning. When i return to Quito i have to come back to this amazing hotel. Definitely recommend it
The hotel was beautiful and very comfortable. The staff was amazing! Luis organized transportation for us from the airport which worked perfectly and the hotel was waiting outside with umbrellas as we arrived because of a light drizzle. Breakfast was great and clearly the staff was so welcoming and told us about the local fruits we were eating. The location is very central to the sites of old town and restaurants. I would highly recommend!
Centro Histórico, Quito
Nice central location, you can easily reach main city attractions by walking distance. Wifi was working perfect specially comparing to other places we stayed in Ecuador. The owner is the one who makes your stay pleasant: welcoming, always ready to help, providing all the necessary information and best options for the tours. Definitely will stay here again if I visit Quito again.
Best breakfast that I had in Ecuador The small courtyards are nice nooks for hanging out when it’s warm The place was quiet yet in a great location - ask for a room facing away from the street and they will happily give it to you if available. Staff is very friendly. They gave me good advice on what to do when Teleferiqo was closed and what time to head to the airport.
Centro Histórico, Quito
The property is a two hundred plus years old and is in the center of old town Quito! You are close to everything you want to go see! The owner and staff are incredibly helpful and they work with an exceptional driver! We started our trip in Quito and will return again a couple of times during our stay in Ecuador.
Centro Histórico, Quito
Please first read "Don't like": After booking.com contacted the manager, the room boy and the manager excused themselves for the behaviour of the room boy. Just by insisting to receive a factura we received it. Ecuador is a poor country. Making black money won't help Ecuadorian society!
very very pleasant stay in Quito … Mario and his wife are very hospitable and friendly.. I was asking them where I can buy the fruit from Ecuador coz I don’t find it in two supermarkets.. I really would like to try.. in the second day of breakfast time I had them.. ❤️
The hotel is a very good choice for a stay in Quito. Fransisco is so friendly and helpful. The restaurant recommendations were great. Fransisco also took care of organizing tours. The hotel staff is very friendly. We can definitely recommend the hotel.

Great location as a base for staying in Quito, walking distance to the key sights in the old town and surrounded by lots of bars and restaurants. Interior of the hotel was amazing! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious!
Very nice hotel, a lot of restaurant nearby, you can have many different selections, Italy food, Mexico food, China food, fast food, and a supper market just 300 meters away. I think I will come back this hotel again when I come back to Quito.
Centro Histórico, Quito
Exceptional staff and customer service beyond expectations. They go above and beyond every day for the customer. The hotel is in a great location to walk to the historic sites in the old town.
The views and the finishes in the hotel are stunning. The restaurant is very good and the complimentary breakfast was delicious, one of the best we have had in Ecuador.
All the hotel team are very polite and willing to support you anytime. They made my stay in Quito easier and joyful! Thanks a lot!
