This incredible colonial-style hotel is located in Quito's San Francisco square and features panoramic views of the historic center from its terrace. Quito´s Basilica is 8 minutes driving. Beautiful hotel. Wonderful location. Delicious breakfast and high tea.
We learned robberies are common. Use waist pouch under clothing for money, etc. Keep valuables out of sight. Don’t allow anyone to “help” you, other than police. Cathedrals, churches are beautiful. In Quito before going to Galápagos.
Walked all around the city and felt very secure. Had read several reviews indicating Quito was dangerous. Just use common sense. People were helpful and friendly for the most part. Lots of chocolate options. Did the Bondabu food tour with Beto. Definitely the highlight of the trip! Tried all kinds of ethnic food and walked all around the city in areas we normally would not have ventured to on our own. He even helped arrange A driver for our return trip to the airport the next morning.
The traffic is horrible 5-7 pm, parts of the roads are closed to those entering the city to allow traffic to leave the city better. Even with Google maps it was difficult to navigate. It's a foodie wonderland around Plaza Foch.
Lots of things to see and do! Take the cable car up for an amazing view of this city and its surrounding area. Getting around is very easy. We recommend staying in old town. Very safe and friendly with everything in walking distance (bring comfy hiking boots or shoes).
Old town, Capilla del hombre, and a lot of things to see and to do around the Quito. Ecuador is an amazing country, full of Nature resources and different activities for everyone. We enjoyed Papallacta termals, Baños with the water falls tour, Casa del Árbol, etc...
We stayed in the Historic District which was great for us to see people living their everyday lives. Be sure to check out the many different food carts along the street - the best meal we had on our trip came from one of the street vendors. There are so many old churches, museums, and tiny streets to discover. While you could have a perfectly great vacation and never leave Quito proper, venture out to surrounding provinces to see primary forests, see indigenous animals, and hike volcanoes. Also, the people of Ecuador were so friendly and welcoming.

This was our favorite hostel in Ecuador. The room had beautiful shuttered windows overlooking the courtyard. The shower had a great temperature and pressure. The bed was very comfortable. There was a TV with expanded cable. The hostel had lots of cheery common areas with beautiful skylights everywhere. The 24 front desk attendant made getting into and out of the building easy and safe. The location is amazing; literally above La Ronda with restaurants, bars, and shops. It's also only a few blocks away from the old town square.

The property is at a quiet place yet at a walking distance to the city center. The breakfast was excellent. The receptionist and manager Monika was very friendly and helpful. She spoke English fluently, which a rare found in Ecuador. She agreed to keep our heavy luggage (4 big bags) for 3 days while we travelled to Otavalo. She was a great host and she did everything to make our stay comfortable. Thank you Monika.

Really simple but nice hostel/hotel in Quito. Good value for money, but not the best place to meet people. The man of the reception is really nice and helps you with everything he can. Free water refill is a plus! Would recommend for couples who are on a budget but not for single-travellers, unless you’re searching for some quiet time.
