Arenales del Sol is a great seaside town, with gorgeous beaches, great restaurants, cafes, mini marts and shops, as well as water sports activities available. The people are so lovely, friendly and helpful. Be sure to make a stop at Garrigos ice-cream parlour! The Tuesday and Friday food and clothes market was great, with lots of bargains and super fresh fruit and vegetables. There is a really good and easy to use bus service that goes into the lovely city of Alicante as well as into the lovely town of Santa Pola.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Excellent apartment, with a large amount of covered outside space for the grandchildren to play. The two infinity pools that were usually empty when we went there and the children's pool kept them entertained in safety, there were always relaxers available by the main pools. Internally the apartment had all the equipment we needed. We didn't have a car, however this would have been useful as there are no supermarkets that were within easy walking distance, (only a couple of small shops, although they were well stocked, but quite a bit more expensive that a supermarket) however we did walk to the local Aldi, but that was about 1 - 2 kilometres (estimated) away. We were used to using the bus service in the area, and there is a bus stop on the main road, which takes you to the supermarkets in a few minutes, as well as trips to the fishing village of Santa Pola and Alicante City. This resort is predominantly residential and built on a steep hillside. It's a 15-20 minute transfer from Alicante airport, making it ideal for short or long breaks. There is a good selection of bars & restaurants on the main road, which runs parallel with the beach for the whole length of the resort. Alongside the main road is a lovely flat(ish) walkway. We had a wheelchair and this made moving around the resort very easy. Behind the main road and walkway there is nothing but apartments. If you are 'self catering, there are only 3 small 'supermarkets' in the resort. these tend to be expensive and the ranges limited. Larger supermarkets like Lidl, Aldi, Mercadona etc... are about 2-3 miles away, so a car is necessary. We used the Mercadona home delivery one week & it was very good. The beach was fantastic & beautifully kept. We had a storm the day we arrived and seaweed was washed up on the beach. A couple of days later it was all gone, as the local authority rake the beach every night. Along the beach are lifeguard stations offering facilities for the elderly & disabled to go swimming. Lovely quiet area not filled with tourists and just locals out on their morning fitness regime or heading to the beach or having lunch/dinner which was great for us as a family as it’s our type of holiday to see more of the local culture and people. The beaches and area in general is very clean and well looked after and the beach is beautiful especially a nice swim in the warm water which I would highly recommend. Restaurants are were good with a number of them to choose from. The people are very friendly and welcoming which always adds to the experience of the holiday. Arenales del Sol is a residential area and is hilly in areas...
Arenales del Sol is a residential area and is hilly in areas, we loved it but others may find that there is not enough restaurants and bars open, as some didn't seem to be open in the evenings on our visit. The beach, promenade and nature walks are great in this area. We ate at Il Siciliano twice as the food was so good, very authentic italian, Chakra and some of the local cafes. The cafe on the promenade was great we had coffees, and beers there most days, staff are very friendly and helpful (Beach area 3B). There were supermarkets which were stocked with basics, not many shops but these were located at the end of the village, buses were available, and taxis could be ordered by the Radio Elche taxi app. Excellent airport service and were on time.Guest review byCarolUnited Kingdom
