I was in Spain for the first time and I really liked Benalmadena. Of the beaches, I liked Playa Jose the most. Two sunbeds with umbrellas cost 14 euros. Very friendly beach manager. You can order a drink and food there, which is prepared in a cafe on the embankment. Be sure to visit Benalmadena Pueblo and enjoy the real Spanish atmosphere. On the embankment, I liked the cafe The Sootn Beach with very tasty food. Nearby is a place with homemade ice cream. There is lots to see in the surrounding area.
There is lots to see in the surrounding area. Malaga is fairly close and is worth visiting for a day or two. There is a little area called Benalamadena Pueblo which sits on a hill. It's extremely touristy.
It's extremely touristy. BUT absolutely everything is right at hand—shops, cafés, bars, restaurants, grocery stores, mini markets. Don't expect great food anywhere. However, the prices are really good. (Note: We live in Copenhagen so we thought the prices were amazing but, of course, that opinion might differ based on where you come from.) The beach is a crowded, however it's sandy (mushy/muddy) but really great if you have children who want to sit and play or venture into the water. A short walk through pebbles and a minor step down going into the water but then sandy and shallow for a decent way out.Guest review byHughes-NielsenDenmark

The bar and pool area were excellent and reasonably priced, if you’re not all inclusive. Staff were super helpful with all our enquiries and the ancillary staff gave us extra pillows clean towels etc with a smile. Food at the bar was excellent and good value for money, and the bar staff fun to communicate with .
