Cuevas La Granja is a unique complex of 18 restored caves on a traditional old farm dating back to the 19th century. You gotta try this place! First of all, it is a cave house. That is cool in by itself, but don't think it isn't plush. Our cave had a bidet, so we are like upper tier cavepeoples. The staff is excellent! Very helpful. The extremely gracious lady who checked us in at the property gave us suggested activities along with maps and helpful advice. There are great adventures to be had in the area. The chief at the onsite restaurant is amazing. We had better meals here than any of the great places we have tried here in Spain during the last week.
Cuevas Hammam Abuelo Jose offer rustic accommodation in caves, located around 20 km from the Sierra Nevada National Park. The complex features a spa, outdoor pool and mountain views. It has beautiful surroundings, the pool is large and the caves offer everything you need and very important: they stay extremely cool during day and night, even when it's 40 degrees outside! The hammam bath experience is very nice, you leave utterly relaxed and revived at the same time. Combine it with a massage and there's nothing more you could wish for! Dogs are allowed (for a rather steep price of €20 per stay) and there are nice walks in the neighbourhood and also directly from the caves, so that's handy when you bring your dog.
Hostal El Caminero is set in Purullena, 39 km from Granada and 31 km from Sierra Nevada. This property offers free WiFi in all rooms. The hostal was in prime position, in the heart of Purrullena. The woman who ran the hostal was fantastic; pleasant and helpful and even upgraded my room without me asking.
Offering caves with panoramic views over Guadix and the Sierra Nevada, Cuevas Pedro Antonio de Alarcon is located 3 km from the centre of Gaudix. The caves share an outdoor swimming pool. It was a wonderful experience sleeping in a cave house on the last day of our holiday - we chose the area as it broke up our journey on a very long drive aroud Andalusia. We didn't know what to expect and it was a splendid surprise. Much more than a hotel, each cave is a complete house with a cute cottage-style kitchen and outside patio. The pool, restaurant and incredible sunset were an added bonus. Estupendo!
