This is a sleepy hillside town offering a couple of restaurants an excellent local hotel and utter relaxation. This is somewhere to get away from it all and unwind. The views from the town are magnificent, as are the roads leading up to Benaocaz, which are best explored by motorbike imho! Hotel El Parral is a lovely place to stay and has charming hosts, excellent food and comfortable rooms.
Excellent little town, shame the European crisis has stopped buildings and restorations and up keep of walking tracks. The town would be just as affluent as Zahara if they manage to get a local proactive tourism body. Great peaceful mountain retreat.
It's a small town/big village high up in the mountains. It's great for walking, has character and for a small place you have a reasonable choice of places to drink and eat out.The chef at the hotel is really good but the menu doesnt change much- eat there at least once though
A perfect mountain village with lots of interesting places to visit nearby - particularly Ubrique with the leather shops, Ronda and Zahara de la Sierra. There are several bars/restaurants in the village together with a couple of bakeries and small shops which supplied most things including fresh produce. There is a walk along an old Roman Road to Ubrique which would make a good day trip.

We stayed in a modest room that had everything that we needed. Free wi-fi, a comfortable bed, a good heater (we we there in late December), and a nice bathroom. The staff were more than amazing. You really should eat at the restaurant! The hotel host was also our waiter in the restaurant and she spoke impeccable English. The restaurant has great fresh and local ingredients, is inexpensive, and was our best meal over the road trip through Andalucia that my wife and I made.

Accommodation was very cosy, clean and well equipped, the wood burning fireplace was fantastic and the huts are nicely spread out so as not to be crowding eachother. The setting could not be much more dramatic with spectacular views and rugged rock features. There is a swimming pool on site, it was not open on our visit but should be opening at the end of May. There is plenty of free parking on site, cars can be driven up to the huts for loading/unloading but must then be parked back in the carpark, this keeps the whole place vehicle free around the accommodation which adds to the sense of natural setting. The site is also dog/pet friendly which was a big plus for us and our small dog
