Cádiz might be a small strip of land, but being the oldest inhabited city in Spain, it means that it’s covered with monuments from different ages and cultures. Beautiful sandy beaches kissed by crystalline waters are also part of its magic, while you won’t be able to forget that you’re in Andalusia, land of music and passion.
Founded by Phoenicians, it had Greek, Roman, Arab and Visigoth influence, and the Age of Discoveries reclaimed its fame as port city. It became a cosmopolitan centre of commerce, enriching a heritage still visible in its historic centre. Don’t miss its narrow streets, colourful squares, the Roman theatre, and the imposing and eclectic Cathedral. Some of the most unique hotels in Cádiz are located in the Old Town.
The newer districts include wide avenues and contemporary buildings. These are the areas of Cádiz with a larger offering of modern hotels on the beach and apartments for rent. Restaurants and cafés serving great local, Andalusian and Spanish specialities are also easy to find.
The railway stations of Estadio, Segunda Aguada, and Central link the city with the rest of the country, while the nearby Jerez Airport is 47 km away. If thinking of visiting southern Spain, check out the Cádiz accommodation deals on Booking.com!
Cadiz is a beautiful city with a fantastic central area. The beaches are clean and well maintained. The central squares and parks are great places to eat out in. It is a very walkable city centre with lots to see and do.
Cadiz has a great mixture of different cultural history, Roman, Moorish and Christian, all really fascinating. I'd recommend doing a guided foot tour early in your visit, we did and it was really worthwhile. The restaurants in the main square by City Hall are quite a bit more expensive than in other parts of Cadiz. The people of Cadiz are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Very little English is spoken, so it's a great opportunity to brush up on your Spanish. Caletta beach is not the best in my opinion, our local beach of Santa Maria was much nicer. The food was great everywhere we ate. I can't praise it enough. The Roman Theatre ruins are fab, and free to visit. The Varado Tower is also worth a climb, great views. The cathedral is obviously a must see as well.
It is just a beautiful place that tries to preserve the architectural treasures of the past. It's a place where real people are still trying to continue their daily life even if the continually flow of cruise liners are flooding the tiny town with thousands of visitors. It's a business, but toxic for the locals. A visitor who wants to enjoy the cycle track along the seaside, the beaches, the multiple excursions to Jerez, Huelva and the beautiful white villages around ..and the Spanish way of life, it's perfect.
There were many beautiful parts to Cadiz, especially away from the main cathedral square. The Camera Obscura gave an excellent view over the town. if your are planning to go try and book a tour in English in advance, it was finished for the day when we got there.
it was just beautiful; very busy with Spanish tourists as it was holiday period in Spain, which made it such a wonderful cultural experience for us; every street we turned down there were people out eating, enjoying themselves Being so near a beach made it a perfect holiday destination
We could not find any beaches which have sun beds and parasols for rent so you had to bring your own which is very impractical. Otherwise magnificent beaches. Great food and restaurant and tapas bars it often quite expensive and difficult to find a table. Must be well organised to take best advantage of the trip to this wonderful city.
Beautiful apartment located right on the Plaza de San Francisco. Modern & stylish. Easy access to the center of old town of Cadiz— walk everywhere. Great for families— 2nd bedroom had two beds and a pocket door. It was also great to have an oven, which isn’t typical in many apartment rentals. The manager was responsive and communicative. Two beautiful windows with views into the plaza. We were able to park at an underground parking facility at Plaza San Antonio, then walk a few blocks to the apartment.
Cádiz
The hostel didn't look like much from the outside, but quite lovely on the inside with a patio and furnished/decorated with love. Bathroom was outside of room, but there is almost one per room, so we never had to wait. Also, we had a sink within the room. Location was good, but to be fair, since Cádiz is small, every location within the old town is good :) Last but not least: Friendly host and various amenities available, for example we could borrow a beach umbrella.
Cádiz
I really loved my stay at Dormir en Cádiz. The location was great and right into the old town. All the main attractions were within walking distance. The bathroom was great and the bed extremely comfortable. The best was probably the staff who was incredibly welcoming and helpful. I would definitely recommend the place and come back if having the opportunity. Thank you for such a great stay and lovely experience!
It’s a lovely, well-designed, contemporary hotel right in the heart of Cadiz old town. Our superior room was spacious with a nice bathroom. As we had a bit of work to do, we really appreciated the lounge and Co-working space. Staff were very friendly and, perhaps because it was January, it was fantastic value for money.
The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable with a great view from the balcony. The bathroom was also huge and the shower was good. The hotel is right on the beach front and we enjoyed walking to the Playa de Santa María del Mar which is a lovely cove about 15 mins towards the old town.
Due to an important forest fire the city of Cadiz was blocked by police and we could not access the hotel Parador which had already taken the full amount of our booking and refused any refund. Booking.com was equally unhelpful and equally refused to refund or defend its customer.
Very good place to stay, specially if you travel by car, hotel with own undergraund parking, still walking distance from old town abt 10-15 min via amazing promenade with fantastic ocean view. Absolutely friendly and helpfull staff, comfortable rooms, clean and good size.
Cádiz
The apartment is located in a great spot for visiting Cadiz and all the old town has to offer. The host and maid were so very friendly and accommodating. The apartment is newly renovated and so cute. The bed and sofa were comfortable. I felt very much at home there.
Wonderful authentic boutique hotel It has been restored with care and flair The manager was sensational so welcoming and tried to meet our every need Only stayed 1 night but would love to stay again Location to old town is excellent and very clean classy area
Good rooms with nice view out on the street, good spacious rooms and interior, with waterboiler and tea. We even got a glass of bubles when we arrived :) Wonderfull terasse at the roof. Nice that the hotel fixed with parking for the car very close by
Great quirky hotel, very clean throughout, helpful reception, underground parking close by. Good sized bedroom with fabulous large bathroom. Hotel location was perfect for exploring Cadiz old town, and what a beautiful place.
I made a last-minute reservation and the host answered immediately and 10 minutes later I was in the apartment. Everything was nice and clean and the location very good in old town Cadiz. I really recommend this apartment.
Great hotel in the heart of the old city with friendly and helpful people on the reception desk. Lovely room with comfortable bed. Cadiz is a great place with beautiful buildings and plenty of restaurants.
Cádiz
Nice location in the heart of Cadiz with parking in the hotel garage. Close to the beach with castillos at each end to walk out to. Easy walk to anywhere in the central city. Comfortable rooms. Tapas nearby.
