Cadiz old town is beautiful and full of history. From antique buildings very different from what you find in other cities of Andalusia, to archaeological ruins, parks and spectacular views. Everything is within walking distance. Land of Phoenocians and Romans, the former Gades or Gadir is not to be missed by any lover of history. Also, the city is lively filled with restaurants, bars and a good selection of entertainment options. Food options in the historic quarter range from the typical local tapas, to the "fritos" or deep-fried food (mainly fish), and other more modern places. There are vegan options available. Not to be missed: lunch or dinner inside the Abastos market. Besides Cadiz city centre, the whole province of Cadiz has so many outstanding places to visit that a week's stay almost falls short: Chiclana de la Frontera with its Novo Sancti Petri area, Costa Ballena, Ronda, Vejer de la Frontera, Zahara de los Atunes, Baelo Claudia, Tarifa, Aljeciras, Medina Sidonia....
Such a beautiful vibrant place with a family atmosphere and also great for couples too. We travelled by train from Saville which had wonderful views an took a few hours. People so friendly an accommodating couldn’t fault any of the trip at all
Charming compact city center with lots of attractions within walking distance. Tons of restaurants and they even have some nice beaches in the city center! Really nice alternative when you've already seen the other big cities in Andalucia. Laid back vibe. Nice people. We loved it!
We had a great time - restaurants of note, and well worth a visit, include - Recreo Chico, Sonambulo, La Sorpresa, and, of course, Casa Manteca (which now has a Freidura in the building across the road, and you can sit at either and order from both!) Long lunch one day at El Potito - terrific paella! Cafe Habana, in Calle Rosario, is great for cocktails. Santa Maria del Mar beach is worth the walk/cycle - lovely beach, proper waves, and beach bars. Great for sunsets, too. Take the ferry to El Puerto de Santa Maria, too - nice little place, but also worth it just for the ferry ride.
Cadiz is an old City but let that fool you, the place is impeccable, the nearby beaches are great, clear water, family friendly, not too noisy. Traffic is not bad at all, but if you prefer to walk almost everything is at a working distance.
A beautiful old town with great food. Easy to get around and the people are friendly. There isn't a lot to do with kids, so go when the water is warmer and you can swim at Playa Victoria. The best gelateria in Andalucia.
Everything was very good...fantastic ...in old town. But I asked in my reservation for PARKING...and it was ok !...but not It is impossible to get there with a car...the street is just for pedestrians !!! My GPS went crazy ..no driving...no parking. I found a near bye garage..and walked there..But for familys or guest with bagage ITS NOT OK. By the way..the breakfast was boring..mostly because of ”half cold” egg and bacon...the orangejuice was from machine...98% water ! But the rooms, lobby and roof terrace is excellent
