Canet d’en Berenguer is a somewhat soulless beach resort built entirely over the past 50 years with many low rise apartment blocks. At the opposite end from the marina there are some up market detached homes in contrast to the rest of the over developed town. With almost 100% Spanish clientèle it’s quite authentic. We ate at the Sarabella Canet situated behind the Consum supermarket where we ate well and enjoyed good service. It was almost empty other than our party which was surprising as it was the height of the season. There are several restaurants and bars and a couple of supermarkets but other than the usual tourist market evenings along the promenade not a lot of shopping opportunities. A great outdoor market on a Sunday morning with local produce and clothing is well worth a visit.

Located only at 20-25 minutes drive from Valencia city, it has a wonderful beach. The village invests lots of efforts to keep the beach clean: dogs not allowed, very cristal clear water, with presence safe guards in September. Beach not crowded: few couples with kids, grand parents, less young people around though. Walking to Porto Sangut is only 20 minutes from Canet if you like to have additional choices of restaurants and see more crowd. I spent 2 days earlier in the Valencia, no safe guards at this time of the year: I heard that 5 people were drown that weekend. I had to safe myself with another guy someone in danger (weather too windy).

Honestly, we arrived late that day and left early the next day, therefore we did not have the occasion to take advantage of the wonderful surroundings. But what I saw was very nice. Good service and very helpful staff.

We found this hotel/town via booking.com - never heard of Canet d’en Berenguer before and we only live an hour or so away! We will definitely return when it’s quieter (lots of children at the moment) Such a lovely place
