Everything was really nice, cozy and good quality. Top breakfast, snacks, coffee and wine in the evening.
The lady from the reception was very friendly and knowledgeable.
This hotel is a must visit, much better than the usual touristy resorts.
Also they offer free private parking, a bit plus for us.

It was a great stay at Casa Madera. Owners are great people. The casa was comfortable and really well equipped with everything you would need. Bed was comfortable though a bit squeaky but it didn't bother me. Nice patio with a beatiful view to the Teide. Overall, good stay!

Icod is an unassuming and charming little town in the north...
Icod is an unassuming and charming little town in the north of Tenerife. It is by no means a tourist resort, but a place where the locals live, work and go to school. Icod has its fair share of attractions - Parque del Drago and Mariposario right in the centre, Cueva del Viento and Playa San Marcos a few kilometres up and downhill respectively - but it is not built around them.
Playa San Marcos is a beautiful spot, a short drive, bus ride or somewhat lengthy walk downhill from the centre of town, but as anywhere on the north coast of Tenerife, be aware that the surf tends to be strong and bathing is not permitted if it gets too strong.
There are many impressive and well-marked hiking routes in the vicinity of Icod, one starting from the plaza of nearby Garachico and going up to and around the Chinyero volcano (you can do it in sections), another from Los Silos to Erjos, to name but a few.
Icod is very well connected to everything along the north coast from Buenavista to Puerto, making it an excellent base from which to explore the north-west of Tenerife. We relied on buses ('guaguas') and sometimes taxis for all our excursions and it worked perfectly.
So, if you are looking for a friendly, relaxed and, shall we say, 'authentic' place to stay in Tenerife, and if you are not fully committed to a beach holiday, then this is the place to go.

We think that the north coast of Tenerife is much more...
We think that the north coast of Tenerife is much more pleasant than the south, it’s much greener, less touristy and there’s some lovely visits to be done. The roads, particularly in the north, are quite hair raising in places, very hilly and twisty, we quite understood by the end of our trip why the car hire company had not bothered to repair all the scrapes! We very much enjoyed the village of Garachico, a few minutes drive from Icod de L’os Vinos, a beautiful little village. Of particular note the restaurant Silogia where we returned for a second visit it was so good, lovely food, beautiful courtyard and friendly efficient hosts. There is also some natural sea water pools which looked wonderful but unfortunately were temporarily closed for some reason. Icod de Los Vinos itself we didn’t visit in depth but we did enjoy the dragon tree and butterfly house. What we did appreciate immensely was all the free on street parking areas everywhere we went in the north and near the beaches.

If you are trekker like us, Icod is a perfect starting point. Climate, closeness to the treks, small playa close by, .... just perfect. Not too big, but big enough with few interesting sights of the town to visit.
Privacy, quite, beautiful view, comfortable house. Owner helpful and friendly. Town is gorgeous, romantic, not expensive, not many tourists. Good restorans, short distance from Loro Parque , Puerto de la Cruise and Siam Park.

We liked the area around Icod.
We liked the area around Icod. The town Garrachico was very nice and we found rough beaches to go swimming. Icod is a friendly town with few tourists when we visited. Lidl as a big shopping center for groceries. The best part is nature around Icod and that it is away from the masses of tourists on the south coast.

Is very good but in one or two years when the Erjos tunnel finish the construction you save twenty minutes in the Teno mountain for the south
and beachs . And then Icod become one of the best place in the midpoint
between north and south

This place far exceeded my expectations. The guest house is an old traditional Canary Island house with a beautiful patio, terrace and even a garden. The terrace oversees the city and has a view to the ocean. The house has it's flaws but that goes for any place with an authentic character. Don't expect a five star hotel but do expect to feel at home. :)
The host Mac is really friendly and gives a good round of the place when welcoming to show you around. He lives with a cat who is super friendly and clean.
The setting is amazing, with plenty of terraces and outdoor areas, pools and a well equipped kitchen with a laundry room and spacious lounges. All cleaning products provided including dishwasher tablets and laundry products, plus spices and oil. . Netflix available.. Good location to visit Masca and La Oratova , plenty to see and do in Icod de los Vinos. The hosts were helpful and good communicators.
Nice small hotel, owner, Rosa, ' we think, was exceptional. Very cheerful and friendly greeting, very helpful even though neither of us spoke each others' language well but we managed to communicate. Our room was excellent, spacious and very comfortable. The terrace is a great place to relax after trekking up the road to the hotel. Also a good place to hang a bit of laundry that needed to be done.
the location was perfect. the staff could not have been more helpful. we loved the hotel and its history. breakfast set us up for the day and the location was near so many restaurants for our evening meal. perfect for others like us that appreciate a certain ambience
