Fun and Sun on the Costa Brava
A vibrant Costa Brava resort at the foot of mountains, Lloret de Mar boasts fabulous beaches and plenty to do for all ages. Carrer de Sant Pere leading inland from the beach has lots of international brand shops and exclusive jewellers. The town also has excellent nightlife, with a wealth of restaurants, bars and one of the Costa Brava’s biggest casinos.
For a spot of culture, the Verdaguer Centre houses relics from the Iberian settlement of Puig de Castellet dating to 250 BC.
Just north is Water World, one of Europe’s biggest waterparks, while offshore watersports include diving, snorkelling and sea kayaking. Lloret de Mar also offers karting and a few golf courses.
In the town centre are Booking.com’s selection of guest houses, apartments and hotels with pools, while high-rise Lloret de Mar hotels face the town’s 2 beaches – Fenals and Lloret. The latter has a long, tree-lined promenade ending at one of the craggy coves typical of this coastline. The walk up to the cliffs is worth it for the views over the town and Mediterranean Sea.
As Lloret de Mar is only around 30 minutes’ drive from Girona Airport, it’s not long before you can dip your toes in.

Costa Brava and La Selva should be on everyone's holidays plans. Lloret de Mar is part of it and I highly recommend hiring a car and visiting around. No matter your age, there is something for you. I stayed here on a solo 4-night trip, last week of September 2024. I really liked my stay here. I stayed on the castell side of Lloret and thank god because the other side was a lot louder with a lot of clubs, raves, casino's, fast food (mcdonalds, kfc etc) and that was not the vibe I was going for at all. 4 nights was just the right time for my stay here. Note to solo female travellers: At nightime just keep your wits about you. I got hit on 3 times during my stay, once being by a waiter who asked me to meet him when he finished work. It did ruin it a bit for me, I'm married and not there for that and did make me a little uncomfortable walking the main shopping/restaurant strip after 10pm.Zoe McIntyreUnited Kingdom - Scored 1010
A lovely place - with people of all ages.
A lovely place - with people of all ages. It attracts a lot of younger people, intent on enjoying the nightlife. Good, very close beach and a fantastic structured walk around the cliff edge as you ascend and descend to the nearby village. Lots of steps but so worthwhile. The food was mainly fast food and not particularly nice but we shopped for prepared salad bowls and coupled it with fast food chicken to get some protein. We took the bus from the bus station at the end of the road and travelled to Barcelona one of the days. Very easy.

I was only there a few days but loved the vibe and activity around. Endless amount of shops, supermarkets and restuarants and people are so helpful. Great for a sun holiday although the sand is more pebbles so can be sore to walk but they have also implemented no smoking on the beach which I liked. Plenty of lovely restaurants and cafes to enjoy food and drink at all different prices to suit every budget The coastal walks are just lovely and not super busy.

Loved my stay in Lloret de Mar. Hotel (Tent Lloret de Mar) was so central to everything, we could walk everywhere. Bus only 40 mins from Girona airport. Really good night life but also lovely restaurants etc to just have a relaxing dinner and enjoy the atmosphere. Locals very friendly as well as staff in restaurants, shops etc. Beach is really nice for swimming and there are also boat trips you can take around the strand which I’d highly recommend. La Brava restaurant is a great place for dinner and there’s a really nice cocktail place straight across from it. Also Gerry’s pub is a great spot. Highly recommend a stay in Lloret de Mar.Niamh
