The apartment is located near the river and has great interior design and fantastic view from the balcony. The host was helpful and thought we couldn't meet him in person he gave us tips and made us feel comfortable staying at his place. I strongly recommend this flat.
Apartamento La Villa is a property located in Portugalete near Vizcaya Bridge. It is set 2625 feet from Las Arenas Beach and offers free WiFi plus a tour desk. The apartment is very comfy, very nicely furnitured. The host is very helpful and nice. The metro station is within a few minutes walk. The area felt safe to walk late.
Set in Portugalete, less than 0.6 mi from Las Arenas Beach and a 20-minute walk from Vizcaya Bridge, RIVER SUITE Apartment offers accommodations with free WiFi, air conditioning, a restaurant and a... It is an excellent location where it is easy to tour around Bilbao and its neighbourhood - on public transport or by foot.
Location great for access to Bilbao and for the ferry to Portsmouth. However, Portugalete is not geared up for tourists. We stayed Monday night, which is never the best night for eating out in Spain, and we could not find any decent place to eat.
People seemed very uptight. There was no variety of food in the area we were staying. We were there for three days the weather reminded me of London. Prices were higher than the rest of other cities I have visited in Spain
Portugalete is a little place near the harbor area of Bilbao. The people are very friendly and it has a perfect view on the bridge of Bilbao. In 20 min one is in the centre of Bilbao (metro). In 2( min one is in the large Max centre (shopping mall) south of Portugalete
We would have loved to explore the area more. Great feeling to the place Very alive and contemporary with a strong historical base. Only negative was that we stayed on a Monday night and nearly all the restaurants are closed
the balcony was the best spot! we also ate at the restaurant in the hotel and the bar keeper was extremely nice! getting around was easy as i knew the place.. i would recommended going up to puente colgante but make sure to check the weather as they dont allow you to go up when its too windy! the only thing i would change was the mattress protector as it was a little bit uncomfortable..
Well worth the short (efficient and cheap) Metro ride to the west of Bilbao (either to Portugalete or Areeta) and then take a short walk round either town on both sides of the river before crossing over the Vizcaya bridge and definitely worth taking lift up to the top (for only €8) for a walk across the bridge from "up top". Impressive structure, helpful staff and a great piece of 19th C architecture Even if you only decide to ride the gondola it's well worth the €0.4 cost. Another option for crossing the river is a €0.35 ride in a boat that is about 80m upstream which takes only 2 or 3 minutes (great for views of the gondola as it crosses)
