Everything was great. I would even say amazing. Facilities are great, beach is right there and there is an underground walkway from the hotel to the beach with showers and restrooms. Beach is incredible with the best views and hiking paths to the other beaches. Breakfast was phenomenal as well as dinner. I would definitely consider coming back. Wonderful place.

A/C was very quiet and efficient and the staff was superb as they accommodated me with internet password in lobby while i waited for my check-in time, plus had a locked baggage room for my backpack as i strolled around the boardwalk.

It's 2*, so the expectation were not high. Everything was new and clean. Comfortable beds, free parking. It's kinda far from the city activity, expected by the price. I asked for the kettle (to boil water? not sure about the name). There was not in the hotel. But the reception girl told me, just go to bar and ask there. Yep, got a boiling water for my tea. Well, it was very touhcing...

This is one of those cases where photos don't do the real thing justice. We were pleasantly surprised by the high quality of all the furnishings of this hotel - the wardrobes, balcony door and other furnishings in the room were made of hard wood and smelled nice; the staircase in the lobby and other corridor furnishings looked as if they were preserved with great care from the 70s. We'd never been to a hotel that exuded so much old-world charm without trying too hard. Everything was sparkling clean, too. There was even an old-fashioned bidet in the room. We enjoyed having drinks on the lawn and looking at the signed Dali prints just next to the lobby. There's a calm, understated glamour to the whole place, down to the uniforms of the waiters and their impeccable service. Ambience-wise I would rate this hotel 10/10, but you wouldn't be able to tell from the photos. We even spotted dolphins at the cove during sunset from the lawn area, which was such a beautiful surprise. We chose to eat at Bites next to the lawn for dinner one night. It completely exceeded our expectations! We expected ordinary tapas but were blown away by the creativity and the taste of everything we ordered. Don't underestimate Bites!! Breakfast at the main restaurant was also excellent, with a great range of fruit, pastries, ham and a popular pancake machine. We got there on time to secure a table in the morning sun. Location - we didn't know what to expect when it came to the walking distance to the beach and how many stairs there would be. In reality the path to the beach is very well-maintained and it's an easy 7-minute gentle slope, accessible through the hotel gate next to the pool. It feels super secure with the CCTV and the key-card entry from outside, too. There's only a few steps involved. Almadraba Beach was an absolute haven and we didn't feel the need to visit any of the big 'commercial' beaches of Roses at all.

The Blossoming Costa Brava

Sweeping around a sandy bay backed by mountains, the fishing port Roses has become one of the most popular Costa Brava resorts. This was partly due to El Bulli, one of the world’s best restaurants, which once graced a neighboring village.

Although that landmark restaurant is now closed, the town still has plenty of eateries and bars with some of the area’s best nightlife. Some are by the long promenade with palm trees beautifully silhouetted at sunset. Around the Bay of Roses, the headland becomes more rugged and the beaches more cove-like. In the opposite direction is the large Roses marina, although the one in next door Empuriabrava is huge.

Water sports are very popular here, including diving and windsurfing. The Aqua Brava waterpark has a host of slides, rapids and a wave pool, and other entertainment includes go-karts and minigolf.

Above the southern end of town, the star-shaped ruins of the 16th-century Castell de la Trinitat overlook the lighthouse. On the other side of Roses, the Ciutadella is a much larger site containing Greek and Roman remains and partly surrounded by medieval walls. Even older are the Creu d’en Cobertella megalithic structures, one of which is the largest in Catalonia.

    No parking, it's like winning the lottery. People were very friendly. Very hot in August. Beautiful sea line, sunsets are amazing. To get to Cap Norfeu took us three times to get there, so my advice- come early because it closes at 10.30 and reopens at 16.30. Citadel of Roses is an interesting place, but the best to visit it afternoon because it is very hot at noon. Near Citadel is a free parking. And also thete is Chinese restaurant right in front wich was very tasty.

    We like Rosa’s this was our 4th visit in 8yrs Best restaurant for us was puerto rica fish dishes amazing . The most colourful paella I have ever seen , absolutely fantastic flavours Also recommend the whole turbot cant wait to return . Have to mention the little waiter I’m sure he was auditioning for the remake of faulty towers he was extremely funny and good at his job

    The promenade was marred by lunatics on electric scooters ,and street hawkers ,which are supposed to be illegal and heavy fines. Also youths setting off bangers to annoy tousists and locals alike. An occasional uniform prescence would easily stop this .This is our fourth stay at Roses and it would be a pity if it was allowed to detiorate from the usual lovely resort .

    We have visted Roses in our motor cruiser when travelling...

    We have visted Roses in our motor cruiser when travelling along the coast from France down to Barcelona and we love it. Of course there are many ports along the route who are also very welcoming but Roses has a special place in our hearts as we had our honeymoon here. For us it was a chance to visit as land based tourists. To get the very best of your holiday we recommend that you do your homework in advance so that your holiday coincides with local events like the summer solstice which add vibrant colour to your holiday and you can make some lovely memories to cherish forever.

    It is a lovely part of Spain. Plenty of restaurants along the sea-front promenade. Everywhere is walkable. Lovely bay with view of mountains. Lovely sea - clear and clean and remains shallow for a good distance.

It was also less than a five minute walk to the lovely Roses beach. The family room was very spacious and for our family of 4 it was a really good size. Although the property does not have air conditioning we were given 2 large fans for our room.
