We loved the choice of restaurants.
We loved the choice of restaurants. There are plenty of shops. We love Mercadona. The weather was amazing, the people very friendly and lots to do. We travelled up to the mountains where there are some lovely little villages. There is a castle with lots of interesting history. We know Andalusia very well and Salobrena definitely is at the top of our list. There are some super beaches too. We are more keen on country though. You can drive up to Velez de Benaudilla and visit the Arab gardens. There are rivers and waterfalls to be see in Guajar Alto. Its great to have a car if possible. You can then visit Almunecar with it's lovely beaches and lovely town. I am sure there are buses but we always rent a car. All in all, we love the area and are planning to live there. Salobrena is a lovely town with a real mixture of new and old. We particularly liked the old town and Arab quarter walking up to the castle. The beach side is everything you would expect and has all the necessary amenities. The only thing we were disappointed with was the amount of fog faeces not being picked up!!! Salobreña is a lovely old town on a small (but steep) hill, with a newer part on level ground at the bottom and a seaside development 15 minutes walk away. The beach development is almost all low-rise (2 stories), with lots of planting etc. Parking there is difficult when it's busy. a very quiet town with little to do in the evenings, no music bars of note. A good base for walking around the district but the routes aren't marked well. buy some proper maps. Not many buses except to Granada. Great location in the old town with a stunning roof terrace with views of the town and the sea. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay, the only note is there is no parking nearby and we had to street park away from the apartment and there are very steep steps up to the apartment, this was fine for us but anyone with a disability would find it tricky. Fully kitted kitchen, excellent wifi, complete bathroom and beautifully decorated, the host was friendly and on the end of the phone if we needed anything. Great outdoor space to enjoy the amazing weather and perfect inside space for 2 couples to share easily. The 2 bathrooms were well equipped, a shower in one and bath and shower in the other and both beds were extremely comfortable.
