The location of the Monastery and the building is wonderful.
The location of the Monastery and the building is wonderful. However, it is showing it's age a bit, and aside from Breakfast - the food at the Parador is pretty bad. We ate at local restaurants (there are several within a 15-20 min drive). The entire hotel and spa staff are excellent, as are the waiters in the restaurant - the maitre d of the restaurant - not so much.

Enjoying comfortable, big rooms and hotel facilities plus walking around in the evening after having had good food and wine at the restaurant at a mystically lighted cloister…this is very special and worth the somewhat higher price. The walk up to the viewpoint Penedos do Castro is strenuous but absolutely recommendable!
