  • Hotel Atalaia B&B

    Hotel Atalaia B&B

    City-Centre, Santiago de Compostela

Featuring free WiFi throughout the property, Hotel Atalaia B&B is located in Santiago de Compostela, 400 metres from Santiago de Compostela Cathedral. Huge room with a huge and amazingly comfortable bed. Really wanted to stay in one of the Santiago hotels which had the rooms with an enclosed balcony, that you see on so many of the websites. Our room at the Atalaia had a beautiful balcony, so it ticked all my boxes. Given a freshly squeezed orange juice as soon as we sat down for breakfast, which was a nice touch. Nice location close enough to the centre for it to be a short walk but not too close for it to be noisy.

Perfect location to end our Camino - super neat and clean and the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. All day breakfast buffet was a winner - we arrived hungry and dirty and it was an absolute pleasure to have a great shower and not have to go and look for a restaurant to eat. I can recommend the stay and will definitely be back.

  • San Francisco Hotel Monumento

    San Francisco Hotel Monumento

    City-Centre, Santiago de Compostela

San Francisco Monumento is a historic monastery with an indoor pool and hot tub. This charming hotel is located in the centre of Santiago de Compostela, 150 metres from the famous Cathedral. Located just a few meters away from the cathedral, but in a more quiet area. Nice covered swimming pool. Convenient outdoor parking. The hotel itself is a real museum: there are some many public spaces, paintings, antique objects. Good restaurant with special menu. The deal I got by booking four months in advance was very good, which makes the value for money incredibly high. I would not hesitate going back again.

A Valuable City with Rich History

The city of Santiago de Compostela is the capital of Galicia and the place where the Apostle St. James is buried. The city’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its distinguished old monuments around the Cathedral and the tomb of St. James.

Made of granite, the spectacular Baroque facade of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela features massive bell towers and statues of St. James. The Obradoiro facade of the Cathedral is one of the most exceptional examples of the Spanish Baroque period.

Surrounded by magnificent buildings, the monumental square of Plaza do Obradoiro is one of the most historic squares in the world and the heart of Santiago. You can stay in one of the hotels, guest houses or apartments Booking.com offers nearby this majestic square.

The final destination of the Medieval pilgrimage route (El Camino de Santiago), this city is the best place to enjoy fresh fish and traditional Galician bread. Galicia is the seafood capital of Spain and the right place to savor Salpicón de Mar (seafood salad) and Pulpo á Feira (octopus cooked with salt).

The Christian pilgrimage route of the Way of St. James passes by Santiago de Compostela Airport, which is 16 km away from Galicia’s capital.
