Great location on Rua do Franco within walking distance of train/bus stations and the university, the great Parque Alameda and of course the cathedral -- probably 7-10 minute walk. Dozens of bars and restaurants within the area. But the street level of this Hostal has a wine bar and restaurant that is very good, without the tourist vibe of most of the rest of the street. Excellent staff and creative food, including a well-priced tasting menu. Loved it. The room was very nice, great bed and super shower and thick, fluffy towels. Has a mini-fridge, a one shot coffee/tea maker and large TV. Shuttered windows open onto the often busy street. For a fairly hopping Friday/Sat stay it was quiet after 11pm. Just a very homey, comfortable quality spot.

This is a hidden gem in the Galician countryside that feels like a stay in a luxurious home, rather than a hotel. Originally a one-night stop for my birthday, I ended up staying for six days, captivated by the Michelin-star chef’s exceptional modern cuisine, phenomenal cocktails + wine list and the warm, personalized service—especially from Maria at the front desk. It’s a design afficianado’s dream, with exquisite attention to detail in every public space and each room. I moved from glamping in the yurts to the suites. Views over the vineyards were stunning. Hi-Fi sound is carefully curated throughout the property with a thoughtful soundtrack. This was a serene, elevated experience. Truly unforgettable.

Location is absolutely exceptional, a few blocks away from the main attractions. Notice - the historic city is pedestrian only, BUT taxis know how to get in and if you have a car, you need to ask how to get in too, just ask locals. Rooms were amazing. Decoration really beautiful with Galician poems - outstanding. Bathrooms really comfortable, spacious and nice. Staff was really nice, helpful, amable. Thanks guys, gracias por todo!

FAQs about hotels in Santiago de Compostela

A Valuable City with Rich History

The city of Santiago de Compostela is the capital of Galicia and the place where the Apostle St. James is buried. The city’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its distinguished old monuments around the Cathedral and the tomb of St. James.

Made of granite, the spectacular Baroque facade of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela features massive bell towers and statues of St. James. The Obradoiro facade of the Cathedral is one of the most exceptional examples of the Spanish Baroque period.

Surrounded by magnificent buildings, the monumental square of Plaza do Obradoiro is one of the most historic squares in the world and the heart of Santiago. You can stay in one of the hotels, guesthouses or apartments Booking.com has near this majestic square.

The final destination of the medieval pilgrimage route El Camino de Santiago, this city is the best place to enjoy fresh fish and traditional Galician bread. Galicia is the seafood capital of Spain and the right place to savor Salpicón de Mar (seafood salad) and Pulpo á Feira (octopus cooked with salt).

The Christian pilgrimage route of the Way of St. James passes by Santiago de Compostela Airport, just 9 miles away from Galicia’s capital.

Santiago is a vibrant city with numerous travellers arriving at all times from the various caminos that finish at the Cathedral. I found the prices in cafes and bars to be reasonable and not inflated as it is deemed a tourist destination.

Santiago is a beautiful city. It's old center town is magical, straight out of a story book from the middle ages. Getting around the old town is easy once you get used to it. However, leave your car in the underground parking areas, since the town is almost fully pedestrian.

It's tempting to say there are too many peregrines in Santiago and there are. But Santiago wouldn't be the same without them we visit Santiago every year as a chilling out restful end to our summer vacation in Vigo. We really enjoy Santiago and eat like kings in preparation to fly home. VIVA SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELLA !!!!!!

We walked the Camino for the 2nd time so Santiago will always hold a special place with us. There is nothing like finally arriving after hundreds of miles and finally walking into the square~ Was able to go to Mass and witness the Botafumeiro and did the tour of the roof. Going out onto the roof is a must! I don't speak Spanish and the tour is in only Spanish but the views are bilingual! Enjoy!

The cathedral experience was fantastic for those who like old churches. Be sure to see the Portico of Glory and the museum - and if the weather is favourable, the roof top tour is essential too. Lots of other great things to do in this city.

We loved everything about Hostal Suso! It has top boutique hotel standards all while being cozy and small and perfectly located in the old town, just a few minutes walk from the cathedral. There is a bar downstairs where you have a discount for breakfast and where the portions are huge and delicious, and many great must visit bars are close by. The staff was beyond helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Everything was impeccably clean and well maintained. Would recommend to everyone coming to Santiago.

This was my 6th time in Santiago, and I’ve stayed at various hotels in the old town after walking the Camiño - but this one is the best! It’s incredibly central, yet surprisingly quiet after midnight. The room had air conditioning, which I really appreciated since it was quite chilly during my stay. I loved the minimalistic yet comfortable interior, the perfect location, smooth communication, and the thoughtful touch of umbrellas available to borrow. Highly recommend.

Easy walking distance to everywhere. The staff was extremely nice and helpful, even the cleaning lady. With the great assistance from the hotel staff, we were able to receive some items left behind in Bilbao the next day via courier. We’re very happy and grateful for that. It’s our last visit in Spain on this 6wks trip as we’re heading to Portugal. We fully enjoyed the Spanish food and we left the country with warmth and wonder in our heart.

Spacious rooms with fantastic bathrooms, probably the best bathrooms I have come across in Europe so far. Close to the old town of Santiago de Compostela, location could not be better if you are driving. Access by car to and from the hotel is easy. There is a Mexican Taco/Burito restaurant right next to the hotel which we really enjoyed. There is also a supermarket right next door which was very convenient.

The hotel is central to the old town of Santiago and easy to reach. We could park our car on the private parking of the hotel (9€ per night) and had a comfortable access to the hotel rooms. The rooms were clean and had a good size. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was okay for one time but it could be better in case you plan a longer stay.
