This historic hotel is housed in the former San Francisco Convent, in Santo Domingo de la Calzada. Exquisite hotel in Santo Domingo de Calzada. A former medieval hospital converted into a perfect blend of modern conveniences and historic splendor. Outstanding breakfast buffet! If you want to splurge for a night while on the Camino de Santiago this is the place.
This impressive hotel is housed in a former hospital building dating from the 12th century. Parador de Santo Domingo de la Calzada has various magnificent lounges. Great hotel, interesting history, great location in Santo Domingo. We were facing the courtyard which was a little loud(church bells). Fantastic hot shower, very clean and sizeable room. The only complaint was it was difficult to figure out how to get to the hotel (signage was clear-ish, it was just hard to believe we had to drive down these tiny lanes and could barely fit in the parking area). Overall, we would highly recommend the hotel.

Excellent location, just off the Camino and close to lots of restuarants, bars and shops. Check in was fast and easy. The room was perfectly clean as were the shared bathroom facilities. Located in a renovated Cistercian abbey in Santo Domingo de la Calzada, this guest house offers heated rooms with free Wi-Fi. The A-12 Camino de Santiago Highway is 1.7 mi away. A very warm and charming reception and a sympathy we won't forget. In fact, a very short stay and a lot to remember.
Parador was elegant and relaxing; it has a beautiful lobby. Room and bed were comfortable. WiFi service was fairly good (could have been faster). We loved the location of the parador in town. The cathedral next door is a "must visit"; it has a unique story. We found a lovely restaurant a block away for dinner, and chose not to use the hotel restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and wish we could have lingered another night.
There's lots to see and good places to eat. Visiting the Cathedral and its' treasury is interesting. There is a lot of Mexican silver artefacts from the days of the first Spanish empire of the conquistadores in South and Central America.
Excellent location in the historic center of Santo Domingo de la Calzada and with easy access to shops, bakeries, cafes, restaurants and tourist attractions. Very comfortable apartment, clean and quiet. Excellent value for money and excellent access to the Camino de Santiago de Compostela route. Magnificent service from the sisters and all the staff.
The property was fresh and clean, very new, and styled with love. Large bathroom, very comfortable beds, and an excellent location near the cathedral. The owners went out of their way to make sure our stay was excellent. I would Highly recommend Carpe Viam!!!
the owners were gracious, welcoming and very helpful. they're very proud of their home made goods food meals and should be. the hotel nicely appointed in a good balance of antique old style Castillian decor and modern touches.
We booked/ requested a triple room but upon arrival had to pay extra 12€ because the hotel said it was only for two adults. Very confusing and disappointing.
With a kitchen , large bathroom , comfortable beds ,excellent restaurants and supermarkets close by, and close to the Camino de Santiago, everything we needed
Fab hotel in central location. It was a perfect end to our Camino. Lovely breakfast.
Was ok. Not as good as some of the other hotels/hostels we have booked.
Nice hotel with clean room near city center. Helpful and friendly staff.
The Parador brand speaks for itself.
