Tordesillas is a famous town in the world history! At the end of the 15th century the pope and the kings of Spain and Portugal agreed here how to allocate the newly discovered territories in South America.. The museum is interesting, but the town has little to offer except for the nice views from the river side and the well preserved churches. Historic hillside town on River Duero crossing. Fabulous little Santa Clara Convent with 15th Century Mudejar horseshoe patio & golden ceiling. "Mad" Queen Juana reclusive convent life 1509-55. Fascinating museum of Treaty of Tordesillas signed by Spain / Portugal dividing Latin America in 1494. Centre of Comunero revolt against Charles 1 monarchy in 1520. Tirdesillas is a stunning place to visit with picturesque scenery and medieval buildings but not in the winter. We were there because we were travelling home but temperatures in winter are well below zero and there is a good chance of snow. I assume this is a family run hotel it was clean comfortable and what we needed after a long trip. Its not a 5 star establishment but then again we didn't pay 5 star price and wouldn't we like seeing spain as it is. The breakfast was absolutely excellent. There was a typical Spanish bar and it was good for a drink after a long trip and our dogs were welcome. We felt it was excellent value and clean and to us that is what we hoped for. The room was comfortable as was the bed. It had a memory foam mattress and pillow. The bar and restaurant were great. The staff were friendly, courteous and attentive.
