Family hotels and homes in Ljósá

The setting of the home was gorgeous, slightly raised offering a commanding view over the fjord, and the house was fantastic!! Exceeding my expectations. It was very large a full three-bedroom home and was designed with such personality and warmth. This was our favorite place of accommodation in our weeks travel of the Faroe Islands. Our only disappointment was that we never got to meet the host as he was out of the country, but he sounded for caring and warm on the phone.

We liked everything. Although it isnt new but it is a charming cute cottage with all the stuff you need. Super close to the beach and other hiking trails.

The house is modern with a beautiful and well equipped kitchen and a big living room. The bedrooms are nice and functional. There are two bathrooms and washer and dryer. Every room has a view of the ocean and if you are lucky you might enjoy a gorgeous sunset. If you have a car, the central location of Leirvik in the Faroe is ideal

House has a cosy, homely atmosphere – just like staying at your parents’ house: some modern touches, some older, but all very pleasant and practical. You take your shoes off in the entrance hall, with a full basket of slippers ready if you don’t bring your own. The bathroom on the 1st floor with underfloor heating was a revelation – no cold tiles here, just warm comfort. The living room has two big couches perfect for relaxing after exploring. Outlets are everywhere, and at the table by the window overlooking the sea, charging cables with USB-C and Lightning connectors are ready. The balcony and living room offer breathtaking sea views, with sheep grazing and rabbits hopping nearby. The fully equipped kitchen has every appliance you could need (microwave, dishwasher with tablets, coffee maker, oven, fridge, freezer…) and plenty of dishes. The house has two floors connected by a steep staircase: living space below, bedrooms above. Instructions for the stay are simple, and we appreciated that no “homework” was required at checkout. Parking was a bit confusing for us at first, but we figured it out with the provided photo. The location is quiet and slightly off the main road, but nothing is far on the Faroe Islands. The undersea tunnel to Streymoy is quick but outrageously costly (175 DKK / 23.45 EUR) one-way, so we always chose the scenic longer drive via the bridge at Nesvík, enjoying beautiful views when there wasn’t milky fog. As we arrived mid-road trip from Europe and urgently needed laundry, we were delighted to find a washing machine and dryer (AEG, with detergent and softener provided). We loved the sunsets in the village. Communication with the owner was always smooth and friendly, and on arrival we were greeted with a small gift of biscuits. House is comfortable, well-equipped, warm, and beautifully located. We had such a great time that sometimes we didn’t even want to leave.

Comfortable self-catering guesthouse, very clean, with easy check in/out process via tourist information office, great location in village, walking distance to bus, supermarket, ferry to Vestmanna bird cliffs, and hiking trails, including beautiful arboretum in village. Excellent value.

Bed was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and had adequate shelf space. Shower was hot! Kitchen was clean, there is a dishwasher, stove/oven, refrigerator, dishes, cooking pans, some miscellaneous pantry items. Radiant heat!!! Loved the warm floors. Lovely view. Friendly and dynamic hostess.
