Hotel Hafnia is in Torshavn’s Old Town, right on the main street, Áarvegur. It offers free in-room Wi-Fi. Guest rooms feature a minibar, tea/coffee facilities and a private bathroom with shower. Literally everything! Very cosy yet spacious lobby, free wifi, we got a welcome coffee while waiting for our room:) Comfortable, ergonomic and clean room and bathroom. TV with chromecast. Tasteful interior design. There is not air conditioning, but a fan in the ceiling is a perfect and sustainable (and enough) solution. Breakfast excellent, best we have ever had! AirPort transfer affordable and helpful. Reception welcoming:) Thank you very much to all staff and the management :)

Located by Tórshavn Harbour, this hotel is 300 metres from the Old Town and government buildings at Tinganes. Flat-screen TVs, tea/coffee makers and private bathrooms are found in all rooms. You can't beat Hotel Torshavn for location -- city center, right on harbor across street from the cathedral. All the major sights in the center are steps away. Food, from free breakfast to dinner at in-house restaurant, very tasty. My single room was cozy, and bathroom commodious (ha). Not the most hyper-modern place but pretty much up to standards or exceeding them. A solid choice at a great price.

The included breakfast was fantastic. The fresh squeezed orange juice and ginger shot was wonderful. We loved the location being slightly outside of town. Some reviews mentioned they thought the location was a bit far from the town, but the short walk (maybe 10 min) was completely worth being seaside, and was easy to find. Our room was very clean, with nice decor and toiletries. The bed was very comfortable. We had a smaller standard room, but the shelving provided enough room for our clothes so we didn't have to be in and out of our suitcase all week. We read some reviews where people found the room too small, but we found it ok. If you don't want a small room, it may be best to upgrade to a bigger room. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Perfect location, friendly staff, best pancakes for breakfast I have ever tasted (and that includes living in the US). I was upgraded to a larger room with a private bath without asking, because there were few other bookings.

Torshavn is a lovely place to visit, and the local people are very friendly and helpful. It feels very safe overall, and there is enough of interest to sustain a 3/4 day stay. There are good restaurants (some expensive - depending on what you're used to) and there is good quality food on offer. Getting around is easy, with most of the Town being walkable - with the local "Red" busses being free to use. Exploring beyond Torshavn needs planning. Some bus routes offer a morning departure but can have a late return, with not enough interest for the casual traveller at the destination for more than a couple of hours. Be aware that Shops etc. close at 13:00/14:00 on Saturday, and on Sundays everything is closed (including the local busses, and some of the cafes and restaurants!) The ferry to Nolsoy is cheap and only 30 minutes. However, if you are NOT hiking there is only 1 shop/cafe (closes Saturday at 13:00) and 1 other cafe (Maggie's was open, friendly and with basic food (chips/burgers/pizza) and worth a stop). For non-hikers there is only an hour/90 minutes of interest, but you may have a several hour wait for the return. Maybe in peak season it's better - I was there end April.

I spent 4 nights in the Faroes right before Christmas. I shopped and ate in Tórshavn twice in that time. Everything was beautifully decorated for Christmas (Saint Lucia Day) was the day I arrived. My two favorite spot in Tórshavn was the harbor. The people that work in the shops and restaurants are of typical Nordic culture. They are kind and helpful. This was my first time here, and I was there solo and I felt as if I was at home. I absolutely loved the dinner I had at The Tarv. I had an amazing Faroese meal of salmon, vegetables, and potatoes as well as a sea scallop starter. They have an amazing wine and beer list. Tórshavn is very walkable and you will find parking is decently easy to find. I highly recommend spending some time here even if you are in the Faroe Islands for hikes and adventures.

We used guidetofaroeislands.fo to arrange a guided tour around the island of Torshavn and nabour islands. A good experience. A visit to Mykines was out of the ordinary - mykines.fo has perfect farries. Book a table at the Barbara Restaurant. Do not expect the bus to pick you up at the airport, you might have to wait up to 2 hours. Share a taxi at a price of Dkk 230 per person. Remember warm clothing:-)

Torshavn is not big but there are lot of other places on the Faroe island you can see. Or go fishing. You can also go hiking as we did. Getting around by bus is easy and free in Torshavn. Weather is often windy and rain/ fog so a good wind proof jacket is nice to bring.

Beautiful town and friendly people . Lots to do if you enjoy the outdoors. Recommend the ferry trip across to Nolsoy. Loved Fisk n Kips at Maggies and Paname cafe attached to a lovely bookshop. Buses are cheap and easy to use.

Visit torshavn.
Visit torshavn. Not easy to get too and don't go on a Sunday, everywhere is closed!! But it is an experience. Take fish and chips from the kiosk on the high street. Talk to the locals, they don't bite. Walk around if you can, buses are free if you tire, even ask a resident of your children can use their trampoline. Marvel at the scenery. The harsh twilight and sunset is amazing.

We actually arrived very early morning (3AM) instead of night due to flight delayed but the host was always in contact and there to help with any problem. Very convenience and close to everything within a short walk. We highly recommended this place, book it while you can! Thank you host! You and your company are wonderful people with great service mind. :)

Nice view to Nolsoy. Fine walking distance to city center. Free parking is just a lot easier than having the car parked in the city center where some other accommodation alternatives were located. The appartment had lots a space - and suited a couple like us just fine - we just had to choose which bedroom to use :-) Easy to get out of torshavn from the house. TV had netflix for a easy relaxation - if you have an account yourself.

Great place to stay when visiting the Faroe Islands - Marna also offers cheap car hire and was really responsive when I asked questions before arriving. Her place is a great base for exploring the Islands - clean rooms and bathrooms like a hotel but with sociable space like a hostel. We met some lovely people during our say :)
