the spiral stairs up to the unit were not mentioned in detail, dangerous and not suitable for older travellers. The stairs to the bedrooms were dangerous, narrow and no handrail. The key box code that was sent to us was incorrect, and it took a long time to get someone who spoke a little english to answer the door
The chroma, light show on the cathedral was exceptional as is the cathedral of course. The hortillonnages must be better seen in the spring but was still something to be seen now. The museum of Picardie had some gems, painting wise, and the architecture was surprisingly grand for a smaller town.
Amiens is a great town for a week-end trip. Why did we not visit sooner? We spent a wonderful afternoon at the floating gardens (Les Hortillonnages). The cathedral is sublime and the Musée de Picardie very impressive. We liked the Saint-Leu area with its many restaurants and lively atmosphere. We did not have enough time to visit all the places of interest and see all the town's varied architecture so another visit is needed. A special mention goes to "Le Loft" restaurant. The moules au Maroilles cheese and fresh chips was my favourite meal of the week-end. Hope to order the same again on the next trip!
Amazing city. Travelled many times past it but wish we would have explored it before. The little Venice area is delightful with bars and restaurants. Cathedral is impressive, Musée de Picardie and Prefecture as well as Palais de Justice are beautiful buildings. The city has a vibrant feel. We definitely will come back.
The people were so nice. My husband and I were really surprised, its not what we are used to where we live in France. One woman went out of her way to help us find the bus we needed, and we didnt even ask for help she just offered it and didn't ask for money after! I dropped a small lotion from my bag and a young guy ran almost a block to give it back to me. I stepped in front of a bike on accident and he apologized to me! It was my fault! The city was beautiful. Very new looking mixed with old. We didn't have much time so we only saw Notre Dame and not much else. But I hear there are canals as well.
Cathedral, river and surrounding cobbled streets are interesting to walk around and seen safe even at night (but check for yourself!). Good brasseries and restaurant Mt's and Les Halles indoor Market is worth a look if self-catering. Main shopping roads have interesting mix of familiar and less-familiar names including FNAC bookshop (if you speak/read French!), Galleries Lafayette and some artisanal/good quality chocolatiers and bakers. Easy to walk around. Nice vibe.
Maria was just wonderful. She was prompt for check-in and check-out, and she communicated with us via WhatsApp, which was convenient. She sent messages on special events for us while we were there, so we did not miss anything. She helped with our luggage, parking, shopping and eating suggestions, and so much more. the tower is one of the landmarks and places to visit in Amiens. So, staying here is very special. I highly recommend it!!
Amiens
Everything top notch. Beautiful spacious apartment. Bbest equipped rental I have ever had. They had everything— full set pots and pans, iron and ironing board….very lovely canal view, wake up to birds singing. Couldn’t be more centrally located. Owner was incredibly nice….very graciously picked us up from train station and on our departure his father drove us back to station at 6:30 am!!!
The hotel was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The. breakfast was very good. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The front desk manager who helped us in check-in and the one who assisted us when we checked out the next morning both went above and beyond expectations in assisting us. We had a very enjoyable stay.
Very well situated, walkable distance from train station, right in the middle of town (close to parks for children). The room was spacious and could accommodate a crib. The style of the hotel is traditional - do not expect high end amenities, trendy decor or style: it is old-fashioned, in a lovely way!
Amiens
The property manager was at the site, spoke excellent English (which was helpful since my French is terrible) and was very friendly. The location was very close to the major tour sites in Amiens and had easy access to highways.
Breakfast was fine. No fried egg offer though, only scrambled. Lovely view up to the Cathedral as promised, and paid for! Room is spacious though not huge. Modern clean and predictable (which is a good thing in a hotel).
Location of hotel was easy drive to city centre, also bus stop very near to hotel and easy to use. Bus driver was very helpful. Beautiful city to explore on foot. Hotel was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good.
Extremely friendly reception, nice little private hotel of character, situated immediately next to the cathedral, my room with a view of it. Good buffet breakfast. Recommended without any restriction
The hotel is not far from the city, it is a good place as you have a super market closed , and a mall with several shops. Also free parking. very nice place to visit Amiens and his area.
Great location in the centre of Amiens and the parking on site was ideal for us. The hotel was very good value, comfortable bed, really powerful shower and plenty of choice at breakfast.
Very nice staff, comfortable beds, a very clean room and a superb breakfast with freshly squeezed orangejuice, nice French cheese, bread and croissants from the best baker of Amiens.
Amiens
Perfect location in the center of Amiens and only a few steps away from the beautiful cathedral. Everything was fine and clean. We had a wonderful stop over on our way home.
